FAXON FIREARMS - MATCH 223 WYLDE PENCIL PROFILE RIFLE BARRLES FOR AR-15

I ordered a couple Faxon pencil barrels, I had been waiting for them to go on sale. Not only are they the high quality barrels I needed but I saved about $50 each buying from Brownells. These items arrived perfectly packaged and right on time. One time I had an issue with a Brownells item (manufacturer’s error, not Brownells) but they were easy to contact, the replacement item was sent out right away and the return was very easy. These are the things that keep me coming back again and again.

Went for a weekend outing with some friends, sighted a new rifle in with this 16" barrel then hit a 1/2 pound tannerite at 150 yards first shot. Haven't done much more shooting just yet but that's a 2 MOA shot with zero adjustment and minimal zeroing so I can't say anything other than I'm impressed.

I stepped down from a 16 WI barrel so this isnt apples to apples. But on paper, this pencil version is lighter than most standard 14.5 barrels. Quality of the barrel is great and when partnered with the Faxon light gas block, it makes aligning the gas tube and overall assembly a breeze. VERY noticeable difference on forward control. Definitely lighter to move and get on target with. Ive gone out once since the build and put a couple hundred rounds through, but I havent experienced any fatigue compared to the WI 16. The almost 1lb weight savings and slightly shorter barrel made a significant improvement.

Very light and accurate barrel. I have it set up on my close range eo tech rifle so I havent stepped it out passed 100 yds yet but so far I have zero complaints. I used an adjustable gas block due to reviews saying they had issues balancing it out with a standard one just to be safe.

This barrel is super accurate and extremely lightweight, as advertised. As I shot the gun however I noticed ejector swipes on my brass, not a good thing. (Headspace was re-check and was good to go) I initially started with a mil spec bolt carrier and carbine buffer, I progressively changed buffer weights all the way to an H3 finally getting rid of the markings on my brass. Not being happy with adding additional weight to my build. I eventually changed the gas block to a Superlative arms adjustable gas block, which fit snug on the journal (Faxons was loose fitting). I also put a Brownells lightweight bolt carrier and a lightweight buffer in my rifle. Im really happy where I ended up with this build, but this barrel has a big gas port and needs some tuning FYI.
