Feed ramps
Has an issue feeding where a steel mag with more than three rounds won't feed. Compared to the cheap barrel next to it you can definitely see the difference in the ramps. This barrel has wider ramps, but it's also much shallower and you can see the copper fouling where the bullet is being forced into the barrel instead of being fed in; if you see what I'm saying. Bought through Brownell's, but just left faxon a voicemail. Not sure where to go from here. In the pictures the faxon is on the left.
Dangerous and out of Spec
This barrel arrived and was so out of spec that factory ammo wouldnt seat just dropping it in. I contacted Faxon about the issue because of the inherent dangers or bad chambers. They at first sounded like they were going to be good with customer service. After a week without any further response they tried marking excuses about feeding being a mag problem. I explained the feeding was just a bonus with their barrel but the main issue is the chamber spec and that has nothing to do with magazines. Brownells as always was awesome about the return so no complaints there. This product is not worth wasting your tine with. Faxon reverse engineered this because only certain shops have access to the true .458 dies. 50 dollars more and you can get the Tromix (designer of the round) barrel and bolt which feeds perfect and seats perfect. Flawless function on unmodified mags. Faxon is really a disappointment and I really wanted to use more of their products but they ruined my first impression. Brownells should really consider not carrying these barrel because sadly they will all be returned because they are out of spec and will never be functional.
