Action Job Enhancer
I have installed these springs in Ruger GP 100 revolvers and Ruger Super Redhawks, including an Alaskan model, all with excellent results. After tuning the actions, I use the middle weight (10#) hammer spring and the lighter (8#) trigger spring to give the revolvers a smooth and light pull. Rugers are good strong revolvers, but they're quite rough internally with lots of sharp ragged edges and need much stoning and polishing to make them acceptable for double action shooting. While the gun is disassembled, clean off the sharp edges on the exposed parts of the hammer too. The Ruger Match Champion is an exception and it's action is much better, but can be improved by further stoning and a set of these excellent springs from Brownells.

Essential for a better trigger pull.
This is my 3rd set of Brownell's (Wolf) spring kits for Ruger GP100 revolvers. I put these in my new Match Champion 10 mm and it brought the trigger pull down to 8 lbs. double action and 3 1/2 lbs. single action, very smooth with a crisp break. The original pulls were 10 1/2 lbs double and 6 lbs. single. I also polished some of the internal bits which also helps a bit and used the 10 lb. hammer spring and 10 lb. trigger return spring and have not had any light primer strikes or fail to fire. My other GP100 .357mag and SP101 357mag have been set up exactly the same and all work 100% with fantastic trigger pulls.

Perfect kit for the GP100
All you'll need to spiff up the action of your GP100. The one con for "fitting required" is only if you want the last little bit of reduction. Now sure the springs have lesser tension per inch of spring, but what I've noticed is that if you lay these springs against the factory spring you'll notice that the factory spring is much shorter. So when you get the lesser tension, but longer spring into place it ends up being more pull than anticipated by quite a large margin. I simply get the tension of spring that I want and then lay it beside the factory spring cutting the new spring to match the length of the factory one. If you place the cut end against the hammer side of the strut, you'll find it seats quite nicely into a fixed position and won't get wonky on you. The pull ends up being quite nice and representative of the reduced weights listed. Give it a try, remember you'll still have the factory spring and two additional reduced power springs if you mess up or have a failure to fire. Worth a look I figure. Smithy.
