What is the NIGHTHAWK CUSTOM - 1911 Drop-In Trigger Unit?

When looking to upgrade the performance of a 1911 pistol, a common improvement sought by shooters is a high-quality trigger job, with a crisp, clean break. Until now, a high-quality trigger job has never been in the realm of a “drop-in” upgrade. Nighthawk Custom has changed that with the introduction of their Drop-In Trigger System (DTS) for 1911 pistols. An all-in-one unit, the DTS replaces your existing hammer, hammer strut, sear, disconnector, and sear spring. Your existing sear pin and hammer pin will be retained for use with the DTS, but no other parts are necessary for installation. With a steel housing securing the unit, the DTS features all Fully Machined™, stainless steel internal components. The traditional three-pronged sear spring is no longer necessary as the springs for the disconnector and sear are built into the unit. A single-leg grip safety spring is included with the DTS to replace the existing sear spring. Never has a high-quality trigger job been this simple for 1911 shooters. The Drop-In Trigger System is designed for use in most 1911 models, and installation is simple enough that minimal gunsmithing skills are necessary. With a proper safety check and minor gunsmithing skills, our Drop-In Trigger System can give your current 1911 a high-quality trigger job in the time it takes for a routine cleaning of your pistol.

Absolutely worth the money!
This is a very worthwhile device…simple to install. I’ve installed two so far with another one planned. The first was in my own build and the second was for an existing pistol. One required some fitting of the thumb safety…the other needed some fitting of the grip safety. Neither was difficult or extensive. Each pistol has a very crisp trigger pull of 3.7-3.8 lbs. with no creep or roughness. This was no more expensive…maybe even less expensive…than paying a professional gunsmith for a trigger job…plus the self-satisfaction of doing it yourself.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Drop in trigger
Installation went well. A little fitting of grip safety was necessary. Don’t have a trigger gauge but pull was horrendous and now is very nice. I am very satisfied with this product.

Just a great product
I installed one of these in my Springfield Prodigy, the Prodigy had a 8 pound trigger with lots of creep. This easy installation gave me a crisp safe 3 pound trigger.

1911 Drop-In Trigger Unit
Easy to install but requires the safety to be fitted. My DTU had a 3.5 pound pull after installation. Before installation my 1911 had a trigger pull of 3.5 pounds and I did a trigger job. To install the old parts, the safety must be replaced.

This is a must have!
I think this1911 trigger is awesome. If you count the cost of the parts required and tooling to properly do a good trigger job on a 1911 plus the intensive labor, this is a must have. I think that someday, many new 1911's will come with this device installed. An adjustable trigger pull would be an improvement, but many match rules would not allow it and the trigger is so crisp it not a deal breaker.
