What is the ED BROWN - 1911 RECOIL SPRING GUIDES?

Made to original specifications for rebuilding existing guns or assembling new guns built to factory Government or Commander configurations. Heat-treated, recoil spring guide resists wear and battering.

SPECS: Govt: Plug/Guide Steel, blue matte finish. Plug - 1 1/2" (4cm) long, 1/2" (13mm) O.D. Guide - 1-5/8" (4.1cm) long. Commander: Ѕ" O.D. Guide - Steel, matte blue finish. 1-3/16" (3cm) long.

Good replacement part

I used this to replace a full length guide rod in my Rock Island Armory 1911 A-1 FS. Along with an Ed Brown government recoil spring plug and a Wolff 18.5 lb. government model variable power recoil spring, I was able to ditch the FLGR and associated impostor parts. Now it works as it was designed.

Does just as described

replaced the Full Length Guide rod in my Taurus PT1911. No complaints so far. A great addition to any FLGR 1911 out there. I bought it with the Matching Ed Brown Recoil Spring Plug.

Required fitting.

When I'm assembling a firearm I expect to have to fit most of the parts to the frame to do it right. However, I was not expecting to have to fit the guide rod. I was assembling a 1911 Government using a Caspian frame. Other makes, guns, etc., may not require fitting. I had the same issue with an Essex frame. For a few bucks more I'd recommend my friends try a different recoil spring guide.
