EGW - Two-Piece S/S Guide Rod

I have installed this guide rod in several different Colt and Kimber pistols and it has always fit and performed well. By perform, I mean that there were no clearance issues with the guide rod head against the barrel lugs/link and the bushing cutout for the recoil spring plug always fit well without binding. This tungsten rod gives a good muzzle-heavy feel for target shooting and adds a bit of resistance to the slide movement (which will aid functioning) that can make it easier for those who can't hold a pistol as firmly against recoil but can still manage to keep the gun steady on target.

Thought I had a problem with guide rod, found out it was the barrel. Guide rod works great, easy to install in a commander slide.

Bought this to replace the standard guide rod in the S.A.1911 5" .45 acp Ronin pistol. The EGW rod is approx. .085" too long to clear the barrel bushing when trying to install it. I also tried the EGW guide rod in a Kimber Eclipse 1911 and it was too long in it as well. I could shorten it as suggested by EGW but I don't want to take a chance on ruining the rod with an unevern cut using a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel or getting the rod too short, so I believe I'll return it. Maybe try a one of the other available guide rods. EGW makes decent accessories so I guess this one slipped past QC.

To difficult to use and install, no added function positive enhancement …waste of money.
