What is the NIGHTHAWK CUSTOM - 1911 HAMMER?

Match-grade hammer is machined from solid tool steel bar stock, then hardened to hold precise dimensions and stand up to many thousands of rounds without wear. Hammer was designed exclusively for Nighthawk by noted 1911 ’smith Bob Marvel, with precision-cut hooks and pin hole to ensure a correct fit. A large, oval cutout in the spur keep weight to a minimum, and crisp serrations prevent slippage when cocking or uncocking. Engagement surface is ready for final grinding and polishing to ensure a clean, reliable letoff. Gunsmith fitting required for proper function and safety.


SPECS: Hammer- Hardened tool steel, heat treated to Rc 50-53, black matte oxide finish. Also available in stainless steel, natural finish.

I purchased this for my Rock Island 1911 GI. I had no problem with it working. Dropped right in with no adjustments. Very good quality and it looks great.

Nice hammer
Received this hammer for my Colt 1911 OACP. It fit with just a little filing due to a burr in the hammer strut pin hole. It looks great on the gun.

awesome
i got the night hawk hammer and sear combo. also with the hammer i got a new strut pin and a titanium hammer strut because i heard itwas easyier to get those peaces with a new hammer. the hammer looks great and with the titanium strut my lock time is faster by enough for me to see it. i guess the closet thing to a negetive i can come up with is the half-cocksafety. it seems to be about twice as far back as my colt hammer was. however i think the is just a surface that you can file to make that gap smaller. this seems to be made that way for the purpose of customizing and wouldn't discorage me from buying this again.

The Best
I have used both Wilson and Ed Brown Hammer/Sear and they are of very high quility but I would say (just my opinion) that the Nighthawk is the best.

good fit
This hammer fit in perfectly on my 80 series Colt. I got it to allow me to attach a 'beaver-tail' grip safety. I would recommend ordering a hammer strut and hammer strut pin as well - detaching those two parts from your old hammer can be a chore/impossible. Those extra two parts are real cheap and will make your life easier when installing a new hammer.
