EGW - Ti Mainspring Cap, Govt/Comm.

Excellent, high quality part from EGW. I wanted a quicker lock time and this part combined with titanium hammer strut and lightened hammer from EGW delivered! 1/3 of the weight of the original parts was dropped. Sorry I didn't get weights for each part, just weighed them as a group (hammer, strut, pin, and cap). The resulting reduced lock time is subtle but every bit helps in precision bullseye shooting.

The larger diameter that slides in the mainspring housing is shorter than the OEM cap. It will likely wear quicker, because there is less guide area. Works fine for now, time will tell.

EGW makes great parts. I'm probably missing something here, or maybe this is intended for polymer mainspring housings or would do better with a hammer spring that has been ground flat on the end. In my steel mainspring housings it rotates and abrades itself on the inner wall, making for a crunchy hammer (rooster? I apparently can't say what one does with a hammer...) after a while. The housings were reputable brands, polished in two stages with the Brownell's mainspring polishers. Maybe they should redesign this with a long tail like a normal one and bore out the tail for weight savings...
