Will not feed rounds
I have bought other products from Faxon and did not have any issues. After reading the other reviews on here, I thought they were isolated incidents. Not so! Once the slide is released, the first round jams on the feed ramp and will not chamber. I hoped it just needed a little breaking in, as it was installed on a new build. After loading and firing approximately 20 rounds, there were no noticeable changes. This barrel is poorly designed and a waste of money. Save yourself the headache and purchase from a different manufacturer.
Not For Reloads!
Do not buy if you plan to shoot reloads! The chamber is cut very tight and the throat is very short, causing malfunctions. Faxon would not lend any assistance. The first representative ended the request as soon as I said I handload. "We don't cover that". Contacted them a second time, different guy, offering to pay for the fitting. The associate said that is wasn't POSSIBLE to ream the chamber because of the nitride coating. Total lie. Now I must either sell this at a loss, or pay a different shop $140 to ream the chamber and extend the throat. Save yourself the headache and buy from someone with customer service. Not Brownells fault. Great company.
Sewer Pipe
Faxon is generally well regarded in the firearm world and manufactures a variety of firearm barrels and consistently gets good reviews. Due to this fact I decided to buy this barrel. The barrel I recieved is hideous. Something went incredibly wrong with the nitride treatment on my barrel and it has resulted in a barrel hardly better than a sewer pipe. The nitride treatment was uneven and rough to the point it signicantly hindered operation of the slide of my polymer 80 build. Operating the slide has caused the treatment to chip off in places and in other spots the treatment is already wearing through. Only a single magazine has been fired trough this barrel. The barrel is covered in machine marks both on the exterior and on the interior bore. The muzzle crown is rough to say the least. Shot a magazine through it and copper fouling was severe. The bore of my barrel looks like a surplus mosin nagant barrel. A significant waste of money.
