Perfect for the serious home gunsmith or the small shop that does only a few Parkerizing jobs a year but wants an alternative to jobbing out the work. This kit contains everything you need to Parkerize handguns and small parts. It lets you expand the range of services your shop offers without a big-dollar investment or sacrificing valuable floor space for a full-size Parkerizing setup. Give your customers’ guns a tough, durable, rust-resistant finish; quickly, easily, repeatably, confidently—and profitably. Since the process works best on a “blasted” finish, you don’t even need to invest in expensive polishing equipment.
Used by the U.S. military since WWII, the tried-and-true Parkerizing process is perfect for restoring collectible military firearms and providing a wear-resistant finish to tactical, field, and duty guns. It’s easier to do than bluing and provides a much tougher finish. Not a paint or a surface coating, but a chemical part of the surface metal itself. The porous structure of a Parkerized surface soaks up oil and holds it for maximum rust resistance. It’s also a great surface prep with plenty of “tooth” to grab other finishes like Baking Lacquer, Aluma-Hyde II®, Teflon®/Moly Oven Cure Gun Finish, and Gun-Kote™ to grab onto.
Kit includes all the chemicals, tanks, and safety gear you’ll need, right down to wire to hang the parts on. All you have to add is a heat source and a supply of clean water. Our detailed Instruction Booklet explains how Parkerizing works and takes you through the process step-by-step with plenty of helpful trouble shooting info. Once your solution is mixed and activated, just add water as you use it, and top off the tank with fresh solution between jobs. No need to throw it out after each use.
Choose between two processes, manganese or zinc; both produce an equally tough, non-reflective, corrosion-resistant finish. Best of all, you can provide your customer whichever finish he prefers because all you need to switch over from one to the other is to change the solution in your tanks. Manganese Parkerizing Kit provides a slightly thicker, medium to dark gray or black finish that is great for a final finish. More porous than other phosphates for superior retention of lubricants or rust-preventives. Meets MIL-STD 171 for small arms finishing. Zinc Parkerizing Kit produces a light to medium gray finish with a fine grain surface that is a superb undercoat for spray-on/bake-on coatings. It leaves minimal sludge build-up in the tank and is economical because it uses less solution than the manganese process. Some people also find it more cosmetically appealing.
