BROWNELLS - Screw Head Vise

this is a necessary tool to have in your shop if you're doing hot blueing. This is one of the better ones on the market and priced right. Useful for hand drilling small holes in presentation boxes for hinges and locks too.

I own one of the original USA made products, same as what's shown in the picture. As you open the chuck on the original vise, the jaws are still pretty much extend out of the chuck body, allowing any length or dia. of stock to be held "outside" the chuck body. The current product I just received from Brownells, is a cheapened facsimile, now made in INDIA. As you loosen the chuck to accommodate larger screws, the jaws retract deep within the body. This design change really makes it impossible to use it for holding most shorter screws. In addition, the jaws will not tighten on any round object evenly, so your screw or drill bit protrudes from the jaws at a crooked angle.

Not able to hold any gun size screw above the level of the outer collar.....this means you can't use it for polishing! I would gladly pay four times as much for one that works!!!
