What is the BROWNELLS - BRN-4 Barrel Nut Wrench?

The Correct Tool for Safe Installation/Removal of Barrel Nuts on H&K Rifles as well as BRN-4 Rifles!

This wrench is a necessary tool if you need to assemble one (or several) of our BRN-4 setups. Actually this tool is a must-have item for anybody who works on H&K Rifles, or Brownells very own BRN-4. When installing or removing the barrel, this wrench precisely engages the slots in the barrel nut, ensuring all the torquing force is evenly applied without the wrench slipping off and damaging the barrel or nut. Just slide the tool over the barrel nut, hand tighten the hex nuts on the tool, and start tightening/loosening the barrel nut using a standard ½” torque wrench, (1” open-end wrench can be used in a pinch). Precision laser cut from hardened steel with an anti-corrosion matte black finish.

Note: This wrench can be used on barrel nuts for Heckler & Koch HK416, HK417, MR556, MR762 rifles, and Brownells BRN-4 configurations.

The right tool for the job!
If you're working on HK416 barrels this is the right tool for the job. I've been using a similar tool with smaller diameter pins but it deformed my barrel nut to where the handguard galled during assembly. This tool fits perfect, pins are the right size to properly support the barrel nut holes. Very easy to use and I wish I would have purchased sooner.

Needs work
Initially purchased another, cheaper, tool made by another manufacturer but packaged by Brownells. That tool immediately broke. Went ahead and purchased this item, much more expensive, trusting the Brownells engineering this time. Attempted to fit two quality made 1/2" drives into the drive socket of this tool but they would not fit, no matter how much brute force was applied. Had to file the drive hole bigger on this tool just to get the torque wrench to fit. Once this was done, the tool worked fine both in torquing a barrel on and removing a barrel.
