What is the OTIS - 5.56 B.O.N.E Bolt Carrier Assembly Cleaning Tool?

AR owners know the importance of a clean bolt and bolt carrier group. Carbon and fouling can build-up in these areas, causing jams and malfunctions. The B.O.N.E.® Tool was designed specifically to clean the bolt carrier assembly area of 5.56 rifles.

This quick-clean tool serves four purposes- Scrapes carbon and fouling from the:

  • Bolt
  • Bolt Carrier
  • Firing Pin
  • Includes a 8-32 threaded hole to act as a T-handle

Note: While this tool fits many bolts flawlessly, it may fit some bolts better than others due to variance in bolts by different manufacturers.

Makes short work out of cleaning
Got the .223 / 5.56 version and .308 version and they make short work out of cleaning the Carier Bolt Group (CBG) after doing a lot of shooting especially with dirty ammo. These probably aren't necessary for light shooting. Just a light wipe down with oil wipes but Deff nice to have around.

Best item for those hard to clean places
I had some build up on an AR that I built a few years ago. This tool took care of all the carbon without any CLP or solvents. I would highly recommend this to any AR owner; so much so much so that I gave these tools for Christmas presents to all my friends.

You can do without it
It can be useful sometimes but used too aggressively I’m not sure if it can harm or affect tolerances. So I reverted to traditional cleaning methods. Nevertheless it can be useful for heavily fouled and neglected BCGs
2
Not Good
I have tried to use this product on multiple brands of rifles, with really no success. It does not scrap close enough to get all the carbon off. All still required the standard cleaning methods to finish it.

All show....... No go
All promise and very little performance. Used on 2 COLT BCG's (Old green label as well as a current production model) with little success. Sorry OTIS, this one is a washout! It's going back to Brownells.
