BROWNELLS - EZ-SOAK Parts Cleaner, 16oz

I use this for cleaning shotgun choke tubes. Just soak them, brief scrub and their clean of plastic residue. Saves me a lot of time compared to my old method.

Soak your choke tubes in EZ-Soak for a few minutes right in the container this is shipped in and it removes ALL fouling including lead and plastic. Run a brush through a couple of times and a clean patch or two. You MUST use a good quality oil when done as this product removes ALL oil and lubricants from the metal. Great product.

I use this mostly to let AR-15 bolts soak as well as 11-87 gas pistons. Drop them in, let them soak while you clean the rest. Take out and touch up with a brush and your done. This stuff will suck every bit of oil out of whatever it touches though, so be sure to oil up good afterwards.

I bought this believing it would save time and reduce scraping and scrubbing AR bolt parts. This is not for heavy carbon build up. It has to be doing something because there was some gunk in the bottom of the container after an hour of soaking. It did clean my bore brushes nice.

I tried EZ-Soak on a dirty shotgun gas piston thinking it would remove the built up carbon in 15 minutes. No go. In 15 minutes nothing happened so I left the piston in overnight. Still no noticeable effect. Then I left the piston in the solution for about a month. (fortunately I have O/U's as well) This time the carbon was slightly softened but I still had to scrape hard with a flat tool and finish with a lot of steel brushing. If you are only trying to get oil, grease and very light carbon off a part, this product will do that but do not expect that it will work on a dirty gas piston with carbon build up although it is advertised for that purpose.
