8mm pilot drill bit
had to heat base of bit to remove some of the hardness so I could drill a recessed hole . Turned a section of 14 in drill stock to size and silver soldered to bit put between centers on Lathe and heated silver solder to get a completely straight joint polished off excess solder . Have drilled out 2 barrels so far and had no problems where hole joined were in perfect alignment..

Barrel Liner Drill, Fits .22 RF, Drill D

Liner Drill
Good product, good instructions for use as well as how to extend the length.

Not so good.
I ordered the short piloted 1/2" drill because it was supposed to be able to silver solder an extension to it by drilling the base. I tried every type of drill I have in my shop, I even ruined a carbide end mill trying to drill the base. The length of the drill alone doesn't do me much good.

The Story Not Told
The first thing to do is to attach an extension per the instructions. I expected to have to do this--no surprise here. And the first step to attach the extension is to drill a 3/16" hole in the butt end of the drill bit. I figured no problem, because surely they would not heat treat the end we need to drill like they heat treat the business end. Boy, was I wrong! I don't have carbide center drills, so I dulled a new cobalt center drill. I was able to center drill this with a special drill designed to drill out broken taps. Now, I have to order a 3/16" carbide drill. It would have been cheaper to get the liner drill complete.
