Product Spotlight: The Ed Brown Fueled
Hi, it's Steve with Brownells, and today I want to talk about the Fuel M&P by Ed Brown. Now hold on, don't click away just yet! I know this is a striker-fired gun and you've seen a million of them, but this one is something different. So hang with me, and let's go through it to see why.
First Impressions
I first saw this gun in Germany at the IWA show in Nuremberg. I was at the Brownells booth, looking at the 1911s at the Ed Brown display. Dave Bigger from Ed Brown came over and said, "Steve, you need to take a look at this," and pointed at this polymer striker-fired gun. I was skeptical at first, holding an Ed Brown 1911 in my hands, but once he explained it to me, I became a convert.
What Makes It Special?
Ed Brown Customization Ed Brown stripped down the M&P to the frame and started all over with everything.
Ed Brown Slide and Barrel: The slide is made from stainless steel with serrations and windows, and it has been lightened for faster cycling. The barrel is match-grade and oversized, ensuring high performance and reliability.
Optic-Ready Design: The Fuel M&P is cut for an optic and comes with an Ed Brown plate. The slide also has suppressor height sights, and the sight cuts are compatible with Glock sights, giving you a wide range of options.
Internals and Trigger
The internals have been upgraded significantly:
Recoil Rod and Spring: Made from steel with a flat spring, balanced to match the slide's weight. Locking Block and Frame Rails: Machined parts replace the original MIM parts, providing a tight fit similar to a well-built 1911.
Apex Trigger System: Ed Brown uses the Apex trigger system but has tuned it to a higher level of performance.
Additional Features
Aluminum Flared Magazine Well: Matches the Ed Brown base plate for smooth magazine changes.
Standard Stippling: Provides a comfortable and grippy feel. Ambidextrous Slide Release: Retains the M&P 2.0's ambidextrous features.
Performance
The Fuel M&P features a crisp trigger with minimal takeup and a short, positive reset. It's one of the crispiest triggers I've ever felt on a polymer striker-fired gun.
Final Thoughts
Ed Brown has taken the M&P platform and elevated it to a whole new level. This gun is available in different colors and configurations, including tactical and competition models. It may cost twice as much as a standard M&P, but the performance and quality make it worth every penny. If you're not an M&P fan, this gun might change your mind. If you are an M&P fan, you definitely need to check this out. Leave us a comment if you have one of these or want to know more about it. We'd love to hear from you! Thanks for watching, and we'll see you next time!
