KAC MCQ-2 Suppressor

May 04, 2026

INTRODUCTION AT BIG SPRINGS RANGE

Steve and Caleb are back at the Big Springs range to put a compact suppressor through a practical field test. The focus here is real-world performance across distance. The goal is to evaluate how a lightweight suppressor performs on a gas gun without any tuning or adjustment.

OVERVIEW OF KNIGHTS ARMAMENT MCQ SUPPRESSOR

The Knights Armament MCQ suppressor is a mini close quarters design built for compactness and efficiency. It is short, lightweight, and intended to reduce muzzle blast without adding unnecessary length to the rifle. This makes it a strong option for shooters who prioritize handling and maneuverability.

LOW BACK PRESSURE DESIGN EXPLAINED

This suppressor uses a low back pressure concept to maintain proper cycling in gas-operated firearms. Instead of increasing gas blowback, it helps keep bolt velocity consistent. That means shooters can install it and run their rifle without adjusting the gas system, which is a major advantage in practical use.

TEST SETUP WITH BRN-4 AND TARGETS TO 500 YARDS

The rifle used is a BRN-4 equipped with a Nightforce NX8 LPVO. Targets are set f 100 to 500 yards, including a 6 inch plate at the farthest distance. Ammunition is standard M193 55 grain, keeping the test grounded in commonly available ammo.

SHOOTING WITHOUT SUPPRESSOR

The test begins without the suppressor to establish a baseline. Shots at 100, 200, and 300 yards are straightforward with solid impacts. At 400 yards, the full-size target makes hits easy. At 500 yards, the smaller plate becomes more challenging due to wind and the lighter bullet.

LONG RANGE PERFORMANCE UNSUPPRESSED

From 100 to 400 yards, performance is consistent and predictable. At 500 yards, wind drift becomes the main factor. The 55 grain projectile is more susceptible to movement, requiring careful holds and adjustments to get hits on target.

INSTALLING THE MCQ SUPPRESSOR

The MCQ suppressor installs quickly and securely. Its compact size keeps the rifle balanced and easy to handle. There is no noticeable shift in how the rifle feels, which is one of the key benefits of a suppressor in this size category.

SHOOTING 500 YARDS SUPPRESSED

With the suppressor installed, the shooter returns to the 500 yard plate. Hits are achieved using the same point of aim, confirming that there is little to no point of impact shift. Wind conditions continue to be the primary variable.

WALKING BACK TARGETS WITH SUPPRESSOR

The test continues from 500 yards back to 100 yards. At each distance, impacts are consistent and repeatable. The suppressor does not negatively affect accuracy, and the rifle continues to perform as expected.

SOUND AND SHOOTING CHARACTERISTICS

The MCQ suppressor reduces muzzle blast and softens the report. While it is not as quiet as a full-size suppressor, it effectively takes the edge off the shot. This makes it especially useful in close quarters or confined shooting environments.

FINAL IMPRESSIONS

The Knights Armament MCQ suppressor delivers solid performance in a compact package. It reduces blast, maintains reliability, and shows minimal point of impact shift. For shooters looking for a lightweight suppressor that works without tuning, this is a practical and effective option.
