What is the RCBS - Hand Priming Tool?

The RCBS Hand Priming Tool is tray fed (tray holds 100 primers) and incorporates a patented safety mechanism to separate the primer seating operation from the primer supply in the tray. The tool is contoured to fit comfortably in your hand, and the tool housing is cast metal. Large and small primer seating stems are included. This tool uses RCBS press type shell holders - works best with RCBS brand shellholders.

Prop 65WARNING: Lead - Discharging firearms in poorly ventilated areas, cleaning firearms, or handling ammunition may result in exposure to lead and other substances known to cause birth defects, reproductive harm, and other serious physical injury. Have adequate ventilation at all times. Wash hands thoroughly after exposure.

RCBS Hand Priming Tool
I had an RCBS hand priming tool for 25 years and broke the large primer plastic shell holder adapter and could not find a replacement part. So I bought a new one. Now I have one set up for small pistol and one set up for large pistol. I look forward to more years of reloading and passing my RCBS reloading tools to my sons.

My favorite
It is a bit flimsy. It is a pain to learn how to take apart also. But once you learn your way around the tool it is a joy to work with. Mine started hanging up after 8 years of use. I cleaned it up, lubed it, and now it runs tip top. The reason for the review after 8 years is, i bought another hand priming tool and it is a piece of junk. This one has way better feel, and is much easier to squeeze. Yes it has problems. Yes it is easy to seat a hundred rounds with out hand fatigue. Lube it lightly every year of hard use.

Solid product
I wanted a hand priming tool to prime 338 Lapua Magnum cases. The RCBS universal wouldn't work, my old Lee hand primers wouldn't work, both same trouble the body of the case wouldn't clear the body of the priming unit. This works great. I have had no trouble with primers flipping or orienting sideways, using the same techniques I used with my Lee units. Seating is positive and leverage is adequate. Not quite as definite a "feel" when the primer is fully seated, but works just fine. About the only downside I can see is that to change shell holders you have to disassemble the unit. Not a big deal as it is simple and only takes a minute or two.
