What is the FORSTER - Co-Ax Case And Cartridge Inspector?

Accurate performance from your ammunition is absolutely dependent on uniformity of both the bullet and the case. Achieving that uniformity is not possible without an accurate, reliable measuring device. The Forster exclusive Co-Ax Case & Cartridge Inspector provides you with the ability to ensure uniformity by measuring three critical dimensions: neck wall thickness, case neck concentricity, and bullet runout.

Measurements are in increments of one-thousandth of an inch so accuracy is superb. The Inspector is unique because it checks both the bullet and case alignment in relation to the centerline (axis) of the entire cartridge or case.

The Forster Case Inspector uses Forster Case Trimmer Pilots (sold separately).

Useful
I agree with the above review about the difficulty of set up and the V groove. The tool is tedious to setup, and when you change over from checking concentricity to checking T.I.R. it again takes time to get all the adjustments made. It isn't the most efficient process and the tool really can't handle a long cartridge witout the case head compression spring pushing the meplat into the adjustment bar, though it is very useful for checking case neck thickness. I'm not a competitive shooter where I need every little bit of accuracy, but I do like to build very consistent rounds. Knowing what I do now I would have purchased the Sinclair concentricity guage instead

So so tool
The v groove holder the bullet sits in was very rough from the factory. So much so that within a few turns it was cutting the copper on the bullet. little time with a dremmel and a stone and polish wheel cleaned it up glass smooth and the problem is gone. It takes a little bit to get the tool setup right so all the angles jive but once done it seems to work pretty well. One thing to note though is if the meplat is not perfect you will not get a good measurement. There is a spring that pushes the round against an anvil where the v groove piece above is. This causes the round to wobble a little giving inaccurate measurements if you are not careful. Need to put a little sizing wax on the rear v section where the case rolls to make it smooth. Overall it works well once you take the time to properly adjust everything but is definitely not a tool for the impatient!
