FEDERAL - .205 Small Rifle AR Match Primers 1,000/Box

The Federal GM205MAR primers are very consistent in my Hand Loads for my 223 Rem, 224 Valkyrie and 6mm WOA in my AR15’s. The cups fit nice and snug into LC brass as well as Lapua and Starline. I get low SD and ES numbers when working on a new load using them. They seem to easily ignite both ball and extruded powders. When decaping the brass they leave little ash in the bottom of the primer pockets which makes cleaning the pockets a less tedious task. I recommend these for your AR loads that require Small Rifle Primers.

Shot a BR match with my 6.5 gas gun, using the match as a load test. I loaded up 20 rounds of CCI400, 20 of the CCI mil spec 556 primers and 20 of these AR match primers. The CCI 400 primers had serious puncturing issues (about half), using both a high pressure BCG and PSA's OEM BCG. Other 2 primers had no punctures. End result was a score in the low 60's for both the CCI 400 and 556 primers, and a score of 92 for these AR match. On a side note, CCI does not recommend the 400's in gas guns. I actually had a slam fire during another match. I will NOT be loading ammo for gas guns using any other primer than these from now on for match loads or the 556 mil spec primers for bulk loading.

Excellent fit, accuracy and with low velocity spreads. I can not verify that the cups are harder than another primer. But i believe the box. I tried these out with AR-COMP and was instantly blown away by the low velocity spreads. I have been reloading a long time. Tried many primers and of course had established longtime old favorites. This brand and type is better.

I never had a misfire or serious issues with them, but, I noticed the anvils had a loose fit in the cup compared to other primers. I even had one fall out making the primer unusable. The primers didn't always seat easily and solidly in the base of the cartridge compared to other brands I have use such as CCI and Winchester. I messed up a couple because of this. I think it has to do with the fact that they use a slightly harder metal in these primers because they are intended for use in an AR. I so far have never ever had one go off during the seating process. As for accuracy I can't tell a huge or noticeable difference between these and other brands. In most cases it's just a matter of matching the right primer to the right powder. Another annoying thing is the packaging they use compared to other brands. Their style of packaging is unnecessarily bulky and takes up extra space and makes the box bigger than it needs to be and about twice as big as a normal box of primers. Also they have little tabs on the underside of the cardboard sleeves that keep the plastic trays that hold the primers from sliding out. They are a bit of a pain to pop the cardboard tabs out of the way so you can slide the trays out because they are recessed in and you can't get to them with your fingers so you have to use a tool like a screwdriver. It's about as annoying as a child safe lid on a medicine bottle. I don't think they are a bad primer but I am not overly impressed.
