What is the VIHTAVUORI - N565 HIGH ENERGY SMOKELESS RIFLE POWDER?

VIHTAVUORI N565 HIGH ENERGY SMOKELESS RIFLE POWDER

A new N500 series powder developed specially for the 250gr bullet weight loads in 338 Lapua Magnum. N565 roughly splits the difference in burn-rate between N560 and N570, but is a bit closer to N570. It will cover many of the same cartridges and bullets as the first two, but allows the loader another option in fine tuning a load to the perfect combination. While N565 was tailored specifically for military sniping applications, it also has a wide range of sporting uses, particularly within long range shooting. The N565 will prove to be an ideal choice for calibers such as the 7mm Remington Magnum, the 30-06 Springfield, 300 Winchester Magnum, 300 Norma Magnum as well as the 338 Norma Magnum.

Excellent replacement for Reloader 26
I’ve been on a waiting list for 3 years for RL 26 as I reload for 6.5 PRC. After doing research on burn rates, I’ve tried several different powders and Vhitavouri N565 is EXCELLENT for 6.5 PRC! Granted my loads are a little on the hot side; however, I am averaging 3,114 fps with 140 gr Accubonds, with low SD’s and shooting 5/8” groups at 100 yards. I’m not a bench rest shooter; however, I demand highly accurate hunting loads for the deer woods in NW Louisiana. I will take those velocities and 5/8” groups any day as this is plenty good for my deer woods. If you’ve been waiting on RL 26 (like many of us) give VV N565 a try.

If you can only get 1 powder, this should be it
...if you are looking for the best accuracy and most consistency in cartridges with larger cases or moderate sized cases in smaller bore diameters pushing very heavy bullets. Not as slow burning as H1000 or similar. Excellent results in 6.5 SAUM, Fast twist .243 with 103gr ELD-X bullets, 6 Creedmoor with heavy bullets, 7 Rem Mag running 160 grains or more, and .300 Win using heavy bullets. Low SDs and extreme spreads. Would be an excellent choice for .25-06 or fast twist .270 with heavy bullets. Would be great for .300 PRC, .300 Wby, 7mm Wby, .240 Wby, .30 Nosler, or lighter bullets in .28 Nosler, or heavy bullets in .33 Nosler. Many other possibilities. Would likely excel in the .22 Creedmoor, as well. Mine performed best with MRP. It is only slightly slower burning than MRP. I have loaded most of the cartridges I named above, so I know that they excel with powders right in the same wheel house as N565. The one's I've used it in, outperformed about every other powder with few exceptions. It's not going to give as much speed as RL26, but the accuracy is much better, in my experience. If you have a case or heavy-for-caliber bullet that requires a slower burning powder than H1000, then N568 or StaBall HD is your ticket if you are concerned primarily with accuracy. If you only want speed and as good as you can get with accuracy while maintaining the highest speed, then N570 or RL26 (RL26 isn't slower burning than H1000, it's a little slower burning than N565). Target pictured is from a custom 6.5 SAUM 3-shots @100yds with N565 and 120 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips. I was having issues getting it to group even 1/2 MOA prior to this. I was at the end of the break-in process here, so that may have helped. This group equalled my personal best over a span of 35 years of shooting to test load accuracy. If you can't find a bullet this powder will produce an excellent group in and your cartridge size and bullet weight is appropriate for the general burn rate of N565, your gun has issues. This is the one you want to use to test accuracy potential.

Great for heavier bullets in magnums
Single digit standard deviations, excellent velocity, and everything accuracy with 7mm 180 to 195 gr bullets from a magnum cartridge. Great lot to lot consistency and temperature stability. Easy metering. This is truly an excellent powder.
