Most underrated powder on the planet!
People think this powder is relegated ro use in old lever guns. Nothing could be further from the truth! It is a medium burn rate powder that meters flawlesslyn and gives generllynaboutnthe highest speeds AND best accuracy in a myriad of cartridges. I have used it with astounding results in .375 Ruger, .35 Whelen, .30-06, .308, .24 Nosler, 7mm-08, 6.5x47 Lapua, .325 WSM, a .35/.325 WSM wildcat, 9.3x62, and a 6.5 GT wildcat to name a few. I have actually NEVER used it in a straight-walled lever gun cartridge, and believe it would not be ideal due to it's burn rate in most of them. .348 Winchester, .307 Winchester, .308 Marlin, and .30-40 Krag would be exceptions that I can think of off the bat. It burns much too slow for a .45-70, .444 Marlin, .350 or .400 Legend, .360 Buckhammer, .405 Winchester or similar. Probably too slow burning for a .30-30, even. Some you could stuff the case full and make it work, though not ideal. You need a 4198 or Reloader 7 type powder for the smaller caliber and big bore calibers in lever guns. The ammo line Hornady markets by the same name as this powder isn't actually loaded with this recipe. It's a proprietary recipe not available to handloaders. It is very versatile and a little slower burning than Varget, and very near Alliant Power Pro 2000MR. You can get a lot more of it in the case than these others, so pressure will sneak up on you if not careful. There isn't any data for most of it's best applications because of how it's marketed. It is NOT, however, relegated to a niche type of cartridge. I've tried to tell this to my loading friends and they still won't believe me. Mayne you won't either. Keep it in the shelf and the price lower than most so I can stock up as I burn it up!
