SPEER - 8mm (0.323") 170gr Semi-Spitzer 100/Box

I began using these over 33 years ago, when my brother gave me his mauser 8mm rifle and a box of those Speer 170 grain spitzer flatbase lead pointed bullets that he used for it. Well, it is an excellent and accurate bullet in my 8mm Mauser rifles, and 1 inch groups from a 1944 rifle is totally cool. Using W748, Imr 4064, and Imr 4320, with all loads providing 2600fps from the chrono. Stock up on these as the cost for store bought 8mm ammo is about $40-$50/box and better accuracy comes from the handloads!

My brother reloaded using the 170 gr Speer for the 8mm Mauser, over 45 years ago. I later obtained a 8mm Mauser rifle and began using these and other makes of 8mm bullets. These, by Speer give exceptional accuracy and the lead tip easily allows for accurate bullet seating to the OAL you desire. My favorite bullet for the 8mm Mauser and 52 grain max of W748 yields 2650 fps and 1"-1.25" typical measured groups (5 shots per group) at 100 yards in a surplus WW2 mauser 98k. The cost for 100 Speer bullets is also very very good! What's not to like?
