RCBS - .17 to .60 Cal Chamfer/Deburring Tool

This tool is easier for old hands and fingers to manage and manipulate, especially with handgun brass larger than .38/.357 cal. My older and smaller similar tools keep slipping off the case mouths as I'm trying to deburr the outside portion of the case mouth. This one is big enough and robust enough that it never slips off the larger caliber case mouths while using. It is larger and heavier than the older tools I've used but the added size and weight are a plus as far as I'm concerned. I was skeptical but now I'm sold on it.

Recently deburred 200+ .44 magnum cases without any issue. The inside cutter side was sharp and just two short twists made a perfect deburr. Long ago I worked on a deburr bench at General Dynamics working aircraft parts with quality tools, so deburring is something I am familiar with. This is a quality tool.

I already have a RCBS deburring tool made by L.E. Wilson. It it a high-quality tool that works very well as designed, but it is limited to 45 cal. I bought item 749003248 to prep brass for 50 cal pistol. The quality of this tool is low, however, by comparison with the Wilson model. Item 749003248 It is a casting which has been rough-cut but not finished. The cutting lips are dull and one cutting lip even has a chip in the cutting surface. Fortunately, the chip is in an area that does not affect 50 cal brass operations. This tool would NOT cut brass until it was sharpened. After expending no small amount of time with a diamond hone, I was able to get it to the point where it works about half as well as it should. I do not recommend buying this tool unless the user has the ability and know-how to sharpen the cutting lips and the patience to spend the time needed.
