Excellent
I put the silver mount on my 10" SS Mark ll today. At first, I thought there is NO way this mounting block is going to fit! However, some time with a few needle files as described in the instructions and a brass punch, it went in. NO way is this thing ever going to fall off!! The fit was remarkable and as a retired Engineer I know a bit about tolerances. It looks like it was made the same time the Ruger was. Amazing!

Nice addition
Some minor fitting required, per the instructions. A few minutes with a file, again following the instructions, and the mount was easily tapped into the original rear sight dovetail. The mount fits as if it was originally milled on to the pistol barrel. Looks outstanding and can be used to mount a pistol scope or red dot. Excellent quality and sturdy construction.

The way to go
As advertised, if you have a Ruger Mark I or Mark II and don't want to spend a lot of money having it drilled and tapped for a red dot or scope this is the way to go. Very good directions, simple to install and looks very good. I installed it on a Mark II, put a red dot on it, sighted it in and shot 100 rounds (at customer's request) with no movement of the rail. I call that "very good".

Great Service and Great Mount
Received the mount in 2 days! It fits exactly as stated. Just a slight tap from a small hammer and it went into the dovetail on my Ruger Mark I. You'll need a couple of Allen wrenches but we all have them anyway. I also used Locktite. Great product to mount a red dot scope on the pistol.

Gunsmith's Dream
The answer to mounting optics to Ruger MK I & MK II Pistols that are not drilled & taped at the factory (non adjustable sights). Just knock out the old sight install the provided dovetailed insert in it's place and fasten on the new base. Doesn't get any more simple than this and the base looks "like it belongs there". No modification to the receiver required.

Not perfect, but a workable solution
Used this to put a red dot on an older (early Mk.II) Ruger 22/45, not factory drilled and tapped. The dovetail block that replaces the rear sight was a tight fit, needlessly so for a part that's held in place with two (2) gib screws, but a few minutes of filing fixed that. Installation is simple and straightforward, other than that. The mounting system is quite solid enough to hold a pistol scope or red dot under the light recoil forces of a .22LR. I have two gripes with it. First, the standard Allen head screws that hold the rib to the dovetail block fill one cross-slot and part of another, limiting mounting locations a bit. It would be better to have used Fillister-head screws countersunk into the rib. Second, an appropriate-sized through hole located over the bolt stop pin would aid with takedown and reassembly of the pistol with the rib installed. It's not as if these pistols don't provide enough challenges in reassembly all on their own.

Easy to Install - Solid Mount
I installed this mount on my Ruger 22/45 Target Model, and it went on with no issues. The mount is well finished and machined, and goes on without issue. Tap out existing rear sight with a no-mar removal tool or punch, insert the dovetail base, then attached with the provided screws. I mounted a Burris Fastfire II to it with no issues - works nicely and looks great. Main comment is that it would have been nice if an allen wrench (microscopic size) for the set screws for the base were included in the kit, but I managed to find one to fit them. I would recommend this mount for small red dot sights and very small handgun scopes, due to lack of front tie down screw (but no gunsmithing mods are needed with this rail!). Good product.

Good Moiunt
I like everything about this mount except it is very tall. Raises the scope center point high above the bore center. This is not such a problem at long range but makes short range shooting more complicated (hold over changes drastically at short ranges.) Mid range trajectory goes higher above sight line than if sight were closer to bore center line. I think they could make this mount thinner. Overall well made, easy to install and solid well engineered. I would buy this again. Slight filing on the steel dovetail mounting block was required. A few light passes is all it took on mine. Tapped it into polace with brass punch.
