We first spotted cotton-tipped applicators in pro use when touring the beautiful gunsmith shop at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. Beside each vise was a handful of them where one could be quickly grabbed for a host of uses - lubrication, cleaning down inside actions, getting into barrel chambers and for touch-up bluing of spots on barrels, frames and sights. Excellent!!!!!!
I've been using this brand from Brownells for years now and they are fantastic. The cotton tip is tight when dry and when you put the solvent or oil on them the loosen up and don't leave cotton on your weapons while you use them. Even when they are dry still no cotton left on the surface of what you're cleaning. I love them because if there is a burr then you can see where it is so you can remove it. The only thing I have to say bad is I go through them too fast. Try these out and you will never go back to those tiny quips again!

Great for gun cleaning and other operati
I have used these from Brownells for over 40 years. Love them! Less expensive than other places, always the same, excellent quality, and available. When I get the cotton end to where it doesn't work anymore, I save them so I can use the stick. I hold one end in each hand and bend it till it breaks. Usually makes a nice, long tapered pick to get dirt/carbon/grease out of tight places. I don't know how I could honestly live without them in my shop

Great product
Works very well for what I use them for, mostly, but not only cleaning handgun barrels. I also use regular cotton swabs a lot in general gun cleaning, so these made sense to me, I shoot weekly so cleaning can be a chore and these make light cleaning faster and easier. I wish the wood stick was a bit sturdier, but then I imagine they would cost a lot more so that's, that!

Add this to your list now
I use a few every time I clean a gun, and they're useful on the reloading bench for quickly swabbing dies out to keep crud from building up. If these are on sale when you read this, or you need something to make free shipping, buy them you'll find a many uses!

Sturdy shanks
Indispensable! A must on the cleaning bench. Shafts are sturdy with a little flex. They can be broken if you try... The length is perfect. The cotton tips stay put. Very few if any loose fibers, depending on the solvent or oil being used. Put the drug store swabs back in the medicine cabinet.

Anecessity for all work benches
I don't think that I could get along without these swabs! I keep them on my bench top at all times and use them for cleaning firearms, applying lube, applying spot bluing, applying Aluminum Black, plus many other uses. Their long handles make it easier getting into hard-to-reach areas. A great product. JT's Gunsmithing
