700 SHORT ACTION 308 DETACHABLE BOTTOM METALS Reviews & Ratings

Add all the convenience of drop-free, box magazine to your favorite Remington 700 BDL. Spring-loaded finger latch inside the triggerguard drops the box magazine free, speeds loading and unloading. Made from durable stainless steel and finished with bake-on, matte, black Teflon® coating that's self-lubricating and resists scratches and wear. Updated version have positive locking springs on the bottom of both sides of the floor plate (holds the magazine box securely in place without the rubber o-ring), a polymer boot on bottom of box (easier to remove), and a guide slot and larger rear catch on back of box (ensures proper latch).

HS Precision Mags
The mags are much better than I expected. Now I know what "Best in Class" looks like. I'm am extremely pleased with the HS Precision bottom metal & detachable mags. Fitting the bottom metal was a simple 10 minute job with my dremel tool to make room for the mag release.
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

great but understand what youre buying
so heres my two cents. HS precision makes great products and very nice rifles. some filing was required for proper fit but thats to be expected with any precision or match grade component. that being said, it takes proprietary magazines which im not stoked about especially considering their 10rd .308 mag is $140. also not a huge fan of magazine releases inside the trigger guard as it just seems like an AD waiting to happen. this is something i noticed when shooting their rifles however a careful shooter shouldnt be too concerned. last downside for me is the price point. this floor plate costs almost 4x more than any other on the market and im not 100 percent sure its completely worth it unless you have the extra money laying around. anyway great product but my wallet hurts and im about 90 percent happy lol

Fit in Bell and Carlson Rem 700
Took me 15 min from opening the box to torque the action screws. Adjustments to the bridge area of the stock and to the inside of receiver were required. Covered in instructions. Fit very snug in the stock and very pleasing to the eye. I very much prefer it over the numerous versions of ACI type bottom metal I have purchased and used.

Very good product
Was very easy to install. Took about 30 mins. Small file and a little time. Fits perfectly. Loads perfectly. Well worth the little time and money.

Works perfectly
I have this system with 5- and 10-round H-S magazines, fitted into the H-S Precision stock that comes from Remington as part of their Model 5R Milspec. While the system is not drop-in, it is *almost* drop-in. The only conflict is the internal latch that holds onto the magazine. When you release the latch moves outward and this conflicts with the stock crosspiece. I got out a riffler file and made a slim diagonal channel in the soft crosspiece material (no neet to touch the aluminum chassis underneath) and in 10 minutes I had a perfect drop-in fit. On my Manners T5A the same fitment is required, plus a slight enlargement of the rearmost portion of the mag well. Manners will perform this themselves at no cost on a BDL-inlet stock if you ask them at time of purchase. As to functionality, it is perfect. If your rounds don't fit this magazine then they don't fit any magazine. then they must not conform to 7.62 NATO specs. I have run several types of ammo plus handloads with an OALT of 2.793" and they fit fine. 145gr commercial ammo has a bunch of extra room. 175gr commercial match ammo not so much, but it fits.

Better than I expected!
This was listed as a drop in kit. But on my Remington 700 bdl, this was not the case. I needed to do a good deal of inletting and relief work to seat this kit properly. No modifying of the kit itself was needed. I used my dremmel tool and slow removal of material until I had a sound fit. Once the main body was seated there were gaps around the edges. I will be using Brownells stainless steel bedding kit to fill these gaps and insure nothing will move about. This kit allows flawless feeding of ammo to battery, and is of better quality than I had anticipated.

Box magazine conversion #1 upgrade !!
Generation 2 of this product is vastly superior to the original. Less noise, more positive lock, and polymer boot to prevent damage when dropped. Easy to install, no fitting necessary.

Great looking product!
Did my homework and selected this product for my Rem 700 Sendero based on reviews. When I installed it my first problem was the front action screw now intruded into the action and prevented the bolt from closing. The second issue was the back of the magazine made contact with the lower back bridge of the action and therefore was difficult to install and wouldn't drop from the action when the release was pressed. I installed a .012 shim to correct the problem but then had a problem feeding the last round, (yep, all it takes it .012 to jack it up). I almost sent it back but decided to try removing .015 from the front action screw. The bolt can now close and after testing over three ten round mags I can say it feeds correctly. In defense of HS Precision I seem to always have weird problems when buying and installing stuff like this. I would give it five stars if instructions addressing how to resolve potential problems had been included. I expect it to work as advertised and will repost if I have any major failures. I like that it's a double stack mag and think it's the best looking of all the DBM's on the market.

Just what I was hoping it would be.
I purchased this to upgrade my Remington 700 ADL to a Hogue BDL Stock + the Detachable Magazine. First is that with this Hogue stock I had to do some minor filing and fitting. It does not drop in. It is worth the work and not too hard, if you take your time. It is a great fit and improvement over firing one round at a time. Parts quality is the best I've seen. If you are the patient type you will not be disappointed.

Complete garbage
I have a H-S precision stock and this bolts in great and that's it. The rest of the product fails in historic proportions. The bullets don't feed at all. The last round never comes out of the magazine cleanly ever! I am extremely disappointed in this product especially for how much it costs and the "reputation" H-S precision has.... Also if you are a precision shooter and think your hand loads will fit. Think again. I had to the shorten the overal length to get the round to fit in the magazine itself. Again I would NEVER RECOMMEND this to anyone.
