Reviews Summary
This safety for the Browning Hi-Power has received mixed feedback. While some found the installation straightforward with proper fitting, many faced challenges with rough casting, oversize parts, and excessive fitting time. Although it ultimately functions well, the quality does not meet expectations compared to OEM products. Consider professional installation if unsure about fitting.

Pretty Good Part
Not great, not bad. It took me about 3 hours to fit this safety which was expected. Worked slowly with stones and 1000 grit paper, took about seven assembly/disassembly cycles to get it right. Be patient and take your time. Being the safety for your gun, if you have any doubts about your ability to install it take it to a gunsmith. Pros- fairly easy to install, works fine. Cons- I wish the left side paddle was larger, casting seams in the part.

Not that difficult a job.
Installation was straight forward. Compare the old safety with the Cylinder & slide unit and you will see where material is to be removed. I only wish the paddle was larger.

Good product
Fitted this to a 1970's vintage HiPower. The shaft had some molding flash that cleaned off in about 10 minutes with a stone. 1/2 a dozen strokes with the stone on the front of the safety stud, 2 hours to find the sear pin I dropped, and it's done.

Disappointed in Quality
This safety is a rough casting which required the shaft to be polished. When compared to the OEM Browning safety, you can see a big difference in the quality of the product. On the plus side, it did work, but only after what I consider excess fitting. Be prepared for several hours work. Not up to the quality standard of the C&S products I have used in the past.

Don't expect a
The item was obviously a casting and a none too accurate one at that. There was a pronounced mismatch on the body that had to be cleaned up, the main shaft was rough and also required quite a bit of cleaning up so that it would fit the frame. The spring recess hole was full of rust and solidified gunk. Additionally the shaft was oversize at the body end and required much fitting. It took me about 4 hours to make this item work. I was sorely disappointed, given Cylinder & Slide's reputation.

Performs well after MUCH fitting
This item was obviously a casting - there were pronounced mold lines that had to be removed. The spring cavity came with a generous supply of rust in the hole and the hole itself was affected by the off center casting. The shaft was not concentric and required a great deal of dressing down especially on the end nearest the lever itself. It took me about 4 hours to fit the unit. Once fitted it does function nicely.

Needs Fitting
The fitting of the plunger is difficult as it seems hardened steel. I don't recall that it needed fitting on your site.

Avoid
Part will not fit Mk I Hi Power. Install alone is an exercise in frustration. Multiple instances of full disassembly are required and fitting needs to be accomplished. If you're looking to get this for a pistol, it may fit the Mk IIs and Mk IIIs but have a gunsmith or somebody who's familiar with these pistols install it. It would have been nice for Cylinder and Slide to have a warning on the package saying if it will fit the pistol or not. All in all, highly unsatisfied with this product. Props to Brownells for shipping it so quick though.
