AR-15 .22LR V2 CATCH22 BOLT CATCH

AR-15 .22LR V2 CATCH22 BOLT CATCH Reviews & Ratings

When a standard AR-15 is converted to .22lr through a conversion bolt or replacement upper, the bolt catch stops working. The Catch22 V2 slides over a stock AR-15 bolt catch to work with most common .22lr conversions and give you bolt catch functionality again. To install, just slide the Catch22 over the stock bolt catch and you're ready to go. This allows you to easily swap between calibers without the need for any tools. The bolt catch is compatible with CMMG, RTB, Spike's Tactical, Tactical Solutions dedicated upper receivers and conversion bolts, as well as similar Ceiner kit conversion bolts. For the bolt catch to provide true last-round-hold-open, the magazine that is used needs to have a follower that sticks out of the back and will engage the bolt catch after the last round. Because of this, different magazines will offer different last round functionality. - CMMG / Black Dog ""Standard"" (X-form, Sonic Weld, etc.): These magazines have a follower that sticks up after the last round is fired, but it doesn't reach out of thee back which is required to hit the bolt catch. The bolt catch will need to be manually engaged to hold the bolt back after the magazine is removed. - S&W 15-22: These magazines have a follower that can hit the bolt catch consistently after the last round is fired and are the best way to get last-round-hold-open functionality. These magazines need to be shimmed using a Catch22 clip-on adapter to take up the slack in the magwell as they are more slim than a standard AR magazine.

Catch22 V2 AR22 LRBHO
My use is perhaps more limited than others in that I only use the product to hold the .22 bolt open with manual actuation in connection with a .22 upper or conversion on an AR lower that typically has a centerfire upper. Otherwise the V2 part will not be installed. The easy, no tools needed installation and removal makes the V2 part well worth the cost.

It works
Does as expected let’s you keep your bolt open

Super easy installation, well-made
Super-easy installation! Slips right on my Phase 5 Extended Bolt Release (V3) and works with my CMMG 22LR bolt. It has a spring-loaded steel ball that holds it in place. I'd get another but they're not in stock right now.

V2 bolt catch adapter
This V2 bolt catch adapter worked perfectly in my BCA 22lr AR uppers. Worked so well I ordered a second one to have a spare. BCA should let its customers know about this product.

Hit or miss
PSA lower with PSA 22lr dedicated upper. Id say it works as intended about 60-70% of the time. Sometimes it seems like the bolt is locked back but it drops when I let go of the bolt paddle. I do like that it adds bolt hold open functionality even if it can be finicky. Also kind of pricey for such a small little piece.

Won’t stay clipped on
The Catch 22 V2 won’t stay clipped onto my milspec bolt catch. Works once and then gets pushed laterally causing malfunctions and a failure to catch the bolt. The detent seems to be off on the one I have. I tried it on two different lowers and had the same results.
