Better than expected
Very clean finish. Everything fit perfectly. Was not expecting the tension screw in a lower of this price range.
A bargain, at twice the price
To be honest, I bought these based mostly on price. I've never bought an expensive "Gucci" lower, always content with more rack-grade parts. But these are NICE. Engraving and finish are second to none. Do not hesitate!
Everything Fits
Seems to be a very well made product. I attached an Aero Precision upper to this lower and put an Aero Precision lower parts in this lower. All parts fit snug and perfect. Barrel and buffer tube also attached perfectly.
Great value
This company is local to me and as a supporter of local businesses I purchased this lower. The overall finish is great! Did not have any issues putting it together and shot flawlessly when taken to the range. Other reviews mention minor issues, however that was not my experience. I have since purchased two more lowers with threaded bolt catch pins.
Awesome product
I just got two of these and both went together tight and flawlessly.
Excellent for my first AR build
Bought this along with a complete lower parts kit for my first AR build. Everything went together perfectly and relatively easy. I had no milling issues like other reviewers had. I would buy this again and I would recommend it! Excellent lower for the price. Thicker than my Del-Ton factory built lower.
Great lower for a great price
I would give this lower 5 stars if it weren't for one problem and let me explain. My receiver was unfortunately part of a batch that went out with an oversized bolt catch roll pin hole that 17 Design is aware about. It was an easy fix and took me about 15 minutes. All I had to do was get a couple dollar threaded roll pin, the same ones that Aero uses for their M4E1 lowers, use a 6/32 tap and thread the hole, problem solved. And to be honest who doesn't like a threaded roll pin for the bolt catch over having to hammer that pin in the first place. Every other part of the receiver was great! Good anodization, milled very well, every other spring and detent hole was to specs. I used an Aero LPK and it went together just fine. Takedown pin holes are tight, safety selector hole was tight, trigger pin holes were tight. Everything appeared to be well within military specifications. I would also like to add that I test fit an Anderson upper receiver and it fit extremely tight, no slop at all. Other than their one slip-up with the earlier receivers, which even high end companies can have from time to time, this is a good receiver that I would buy again and again without hesitation.
Poor Quality Control
Poor quality control. Multiple minor cosmetic issues and one minor threading issue. Should of been sold as a Blem . Did contact Mfr. Said they were going to replace it, Never happened. End of the day I would buy again. But only in person from FFL so I can inspect it before purchasing.
Decent but some fitting issues
Used for my first stripped lower build. Finish seemed okay, but main issue was the infamous pivot pin install. Being forewarned I knew it was going to be difficult, but noticed that the spring and detent could not be pressed deep enough into the channel to allow the pivot pin to be placed. Thought it was just because I was inexperienced, so I bought the Obsidian tool (which is great!), and even with a punch could not depress the detent enough to rotate the tool (detent point was not flush). Ended up cutting ~ 1 mm off the spring and was then able to do the install. I think it is because the channel for the spring was not deep enough. For comparison, I built a BRN-180 lower at the same time and did not have this problem. The other review mentions a different size mismatch issue, so I think there might be some quality control issues.
Pretty cheap quality
Issues with bolt catch roll pin. Three different parts kits did not work. I believe machining tolerance is off. Hole is way too big. Has lighter color finish than all of my uppers.
