Buy Steel.

The idea behind this tool is great, application wise not so much. It's plastic, so it easily breaks. I've Installed around 25-30 front pivot pins. I tried this and its second use the detent cut into the guide pin and rendered it unusable. Real Avid has some great stuff but this isn't worth it. Go to your local hardware store/Home Depot and pick up a 1/4in x 2in Clevis pin or buy Brownells steel tool.

Terrible

Very disappointed given the other positive reviews. Perhaps it was an issue of the particular spring/detent in my kit/lower but the detent tip cut into the plastic of the guide pin, making it impossible to turn or withdraw. The tool was ruined with the first use. As I noted above, it may be a problem with the kit/lower, as the detent pin could not be compressed to be completely flush with the edge of the receiver (this is my first build so I don't know how common that is). But some of the other tools for this are metal (Olympus and Brownells) and I think would accomplish this task better.
