Very nice well made mag.
Fits my 92fs which I have converted over to a "G" with all Beretta factory steel parts wherever needed. These mags actually fit better IMHO than the factory mags that came with the pistol. Insertion and ejection seems much smoother, BHO works like a factory mag, and holds 18 rds to boot. Baseplate is about 1/8 " thicker for the extra rds, but is not noticeable. No failure to feed, fire, or eject the ammo. Very happy with these.
Don't use these with a Girsan
I was worried these magazines were defective when the follower wouldn't engage the slide lock on the Girsan Regard I bought. The follower would instead get stuck in between the magazine body and the little tab on the slide lock on an empty magazine. Later I bought a 92FS Inox because they look cool, after which I found out the Girsan pistols must have a slide lock tab that's too short to work with Beretta 92 magazines. These MDS magazines, along with four Beretta 92 magazines I got, worked perfectly fine on the 92FS Inox but none of them would lock the slide back on the Girsan. They'd feed fine, but then they'd get stuck inside the pistol instead of ejecting the empty magazine when you pressed the magazine release. Bottom line, if you have a proper Beretta pistol then these should work fine, which is good since they're a bit cheaper than the Beretta branded ones. If you have a Girsan Regard, you might want to buy their specific Girsan Mec-Gar magazines because I couldn't get any Beretta magazines to work on mine. Or you might want to take a gamble and replace the slide lock with a Beretta slide lock.
Great so far
They fit my 92fs perfectly, drop free, and lock the slide back after the last round. Construction looks and feels solid. No jams or feeding issues so far. The last round is a bit difficult to insert, but all new mags are that way, and it should loosen up with use. I would not hesitate to buy more.
Solid mag from OEM supplier
MDS is a Beretta subsidiary and OEM mag supplier for many companies, so these are good to go. In these crazy times when the Mec Gar 18 rd mags are out of stock, these are a great alternative. Just like the Mec Gars though, these will hold 18 rds, but they wont lock in on a closed slide with 18 rds, so I download to 17. Time will tell if they loosen up enough for that last round. They run great as expected from MDS.
Works Nice
I bought these not for a 92 but for a Cougar 8000, it is hard to find Magazines for them and if you find them the are up in price. Modified them which took about 5 minutes each, did a full function check and the worked flawlessly.
Factory Clone
The price was good so I bought 2. These are factory clone magazines, made on the same assembly line as the originals. One of mine actually had a partial factory stamp, so maybe these are factory seconds without the factory stamp? I bought 2 and both look and function identical to my 2 factory 18 round magazines. Mec-Gar are superior in every way, including difficulty to load fully, so this rates 4 stars.
After modification review
In a recent review, I trashed these during the review. You can get them to work by adding epoxy to the slide catch step on the follower, to extend it outward. You will be scraping and filing the epoxy to shape it correctly so that it catches on an empty mag, not on the last round, there is about a 1/32 inch difference. Afterward they will function the way they are supposed to. Not that many rounds through these, so I don't know the long term of my band aid.
Disregard if you have a regard
This is a quality mag-- it should serve you well if you actually own a Beretta. If you bought the EAA Regard DON'T BUY THIS MAG the other review is correct it will not function properly. Brownells needs to update with that information.
Don't know how they gave these 5 stars
The magazine body seems well made and is the same dimensions as the Beretta, at least using slide calipers. The 1 star rating is because of the follower. A poor design that rolls in the magazine so it will not push the slide catch up and sometimes goes past the catch to jam the magazine in. The follower on the other side from the catch basically has nothing to prevent it from rolling over. I will keep them until I can get better ones, then these will go in the trash.
