Possible blem product
I am almost certain these are blemished. This item comes with 2 marks that are not anodized on the front rail just above the barrel, you can see the aluminum. Doesn't affect the function but I expected no blemishes from a Daniel defense mid to high budget uppers as compared to the low budget uppers that are out there. I sent it back and the next one they sent was exactly the same but with a bent ejection cover. I contacted Brownells and Daniel defense to see if this is how they ship out these receivers and they confirmed they do, they said that the two marks do not get anodized because that is where they hang the rail during the process. I don't mind it having scuffs, but I do mind when they come from the factory with scuffs and blemishes without it being on the description. Just be transparent about it and you will have no complaints. I've bought cbc, even bear creek in the past and they take better care of the rails and the qc process or at least that is the impression I get.

Nice but a little rough
Like other reviews have mentioned it has a ding/nic in the front of the hand guard. Not too big of an issue. Also the receiver holes are missing anodizing. The barrel and gas block look perfect however and its a super tight fitting upper receiver.
