The Strike Latchless Charging Handle represents yet another step forward for the AR 15. Simple in its execution, yet robust and reliable, the revolutionary Strike Latchless Charging Handle offers forged 7075 construction, efficient side gas venting, and a solid, comfortable interface for the user. Reliable receiver lockup is achieved through a novel hidden spring mechanism that uses the Charging Handle insertion slot in the upper receiver charging handle channel. This channel features a natural radius that will not wear rapidly like the external, 90-degree edge of the standard CH latch area of the upper receiver. The flat spring bearing surface is much larger than a steel ball bearing, spreading force and wear out over a larger area. Increased service life is one benefit of this type of system, as is the comfort and peace of mind that come from a lack of moving or external components that can break or snag/catch on your gear and foreign objects. The solid aluminum construction is durable and provides a solid mounting point for the ISO Tabs, an add-on component that increases surface area for those using large optics and/or gloved hands.

For standart mil-spec AR15 only. Not rated for suppressors and/or full auto fire. Not for use in SBRs or pistol length barrels.

FDE? More like Burnt Bronze...

So got this today and can say its color is NOTHING like Magpul FDE, more like Giselle Burnt Bronze, but on the plus side goes well with my Burris XTR2 "FDE" scope, so based upon its solid Strike Industries design is a keeper nonetheless

Nice

Nice to have ambidextrous with almost no moving parts besides the internal spring latch. The ears feel small and lack thickness so i added Strike's polymer ISO latch (via their website). Also works better than the single side extension tabs IMO. Gave it just the right size and helps seal off any gas.

Great charging handle looks great does the job, fitted excellent.

A Good Alternative

Last year I had an alarming range incident when my AR seized up as I chambered a round; the roll pin had walked out of the charging handle latch and mangled itself against the receiver as the handle went home, jamming the handle and preventing battery. The rest of the trip was safely spent sans latch (the handle just kind of distracting taps your nose under recoil), but needless to say I wasn't thrilled. This product gets around that by replacing the latch with bracing leaf springs (or rather, one spring folded so that its two ends stick out the sides), and this works surprisingly well. It also makes the design inherently ambidextrous without mechanical trickery, the low-profile wings have good purchase without being snag-prone, and there is a mounting point on each side for an optional extension. My one big beef is that the body of the handle is slightly undersized, leading to an excess of audible rattle and internal play, and worked from some angles it even kind of bends past the receiver surfaces and adds unnecessary friction. Also, the tension springs do add a little resistance when you start working the handle, but not enough that you'll notice under assertive use. It remains a versatile piece of equipment with what I anticipate will be a long service life, so I'm happy with it.
