Worth Every Penny - I should have bought it sooner, waited years!
Great value + function for a piston AR, shot it right out of the box mated with PWS MK1 lower. Definately recommend - For the money, it does not come with the PWS comp, and the handguard differs from the MK Mod 1 and Mod 2... but.... oh man, when opening up my Mod1 it has the same barrel + internals in every way! Will buy again before they're gone forever :)

No review question directly for a customer whom posted a review.
Bubba, I asked a question that was specifically for you/your posted review, it should be in the questions below, if you don't mind responding that is. My only other question is pertaining to what ammo this barrel will consistently run. I've read that it will shoot 5.56, but seeing as the caliber of the projectile is the same this does not answer the question: does this barrel shoot standard 5.5645 /.223 ammunition? Thanks for any reply, Jason W.

Excellent Value
You will be very happy with this upper. From fit and finish to accuracy , PWS makes high quality stuff. I normally like to build my own but was looking at piston systems and decided to give this a try. I have put a couple hundred rounds through this upper so far and have had zero issues. Easily moa with my 77gr loads. Like it so much I ordered the MK114 Mod1. If your looking at piston systems this will not disappoint .

Pretty good alright
Bought to upgrade an older build, was impressed with the long stroke piston and adjustable gas block. arrived on time, and well packaged. Now for the tears and 4 letter words. I installed on my Anderson lower then the trouble began, the upper and lower mated perfectly BUT when I tried to cycle the action the bolt carrier bound up in the buffer tube, I had to remove the stock ant punch it forward to close the bolt. was ready to send it back. I removed the buffer tube which worked perfect with the DI system. Just for S!!ts & giggles I installed a new buffer tube and oh joy Problem solved, HAPPY CAMPER now.

Excellent piston upper.
Had a dpms complete lower sitting around and needed an upper to complete it. Was thinking of buying another upper and doing a piston conversion but then I found this one. Shipping was fast and arrived on time. Mounted a Burris AR-536 to it and took it to the range. Ran 3, 30 rnd. Mags through it after sighting it in and had no issues at all with the function of this upper. Mag dumped 20 rounds through it rapidly and still had no issues. Seems pretty solid. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a built piston upper. Also as expected cleaning it afterwards was pretty light, runs way cleaner than gas systems.

An OUTSTANDING Rifle!
This rating is for my second PWS Upper MK116. (See my first rating, Jack6, for the first PWS Upper.) As pleased as I was with the first upper, I am doubly pleased with this second one. As I said, this is the rifle Ive been waiting for. Upon opening the box, I was really pleased with the fit and finish on these rifles. I wiped it down from the original lubricant it had on it, ran a bore snake down the bore, and mounted it on a full mil-spec lower, to include a mil-spec trigger. Next, I mounted a Vortex Viper PST 6X24 scope on it (see picture) and bore sighted it in. It took only 6 shots to get it zeroed high at 100 yds. I was using handloads (24.5g IMR 4064, Sierra MK 69g bullets, CCI primers). I shot about 6-8 more shots to make sure it was consistent and zeroed properly, and then fired several 3-shot groups with outstanding results. The best group was less than but the others were close to that size. See the picture. The aim point is a felt-tip marker spot 3/8 in diameter shown by the arrow. On take-down, the breech and BCG are exceptionally clean, with little to no carbon, unlike direct impingement systems. The rifle functionally outstandingly well with absolutely no FTFs. This is an exceptionally accurate rifle and Im totally pleased with it. It shoots as well or better than a 24 bull barrel AR15 I use as a varmint rifle. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a really good shooter with great accuracy. Im waiting now for a set of MBUS flip sights to mount on it as backups. (More fun shooting in zeroing those sights!)

Outstanding Rifle
This is the rifle I've been looking for! This upper is extremely well made and the finish is outstanding. It fit perfectly with a mil-spec lower. When I received it, I was waiting for a scope, so I put a set of Magpul Mbus flip up sights on it to check it out. Right from the start, I could tell it was a good shooter. Even with my 81 year-old eyes and "iron" sights, I got very good accuracy after zeroing the sights. It fired very well, right from the box. I pulled a "bore snake" through the bore and bore-sighted it, then zeroed the iron sights with about a dozen rounds. There were absolutely no FTFs and it operated like a charm! Today, I received the scope (Vortex Viper HS) and soon had that bore-sighted and zeroed in. I'm amazed at the accuracy. After about 40-50 rounds the rifle was shooting 3/4" groups at 100 yds. It shoots as accurately as my varmiter AR with a 24" barrel. Of course, I was using handloads (24.5g IMR 4064, 69g Sierra Matchking bullets, CCI primers) and not factory loads. This PWS upper is outstanding. It is easy to take down, the piston operation keeps the BCG and breech area clean, and it is a pleasure to shoot. I plan on saving my $ and ordering another one. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves to shoot the AR platform.

Jaybird84- this is for you
I tried to respond to your question, but there's no option for giving a response. 223 Wylde is a special barrel, it's able to fire both 5.56 and .223. it's my barrel of choice because it is a great middle ground between a super accurate.223 barrel and a super accurate 5.56 barrel. Personally, unless I was building a very specific competition rifle for either 556 or 223. I will always choose a Wylde barrel as to not limit myself to either caliber, while having a very accurate barrel for both. Hopefully this helps someone. -cheers

My first review 5 stars - after range trip, cleaning and inspection + reply from PWS directly now 1 star
I shot 40 rds Winchester white box thru it and the upper started peeling back / deforming. Emailed PWS, and was told "its normal" and if I wanted a better upper they would upgrade my upper with cost to Mod 2. PWS/Brownells - if the aluminum peeling back / deforming is "normal", it should be stated in the advertising and clearly say "this upper is super soft and will deform slightly after 40 rds"
