M&P 45 original
Purchased my M&P 45 LEO turn in from ClassicFirearms. Firearms was excellent, but the trigger was atrocious. My shot groups were all over the place compared to my other 45's. Did some research and was going to settle on the APEX trigger kit, but was unsure on which kit to purchase. Spoke with Frank a gun technician at Brownells who highly recommended this kit. He said he had the same type of firearm and it made a huge difference for him. I purchased the kit which arrived quickly. It took a couple of youtube videos (don't settle on one, that was the difference between 30 minutes to 1 hour vs 2+ hours), but once I was done, the firearm worked awesome. pressure went from 8 lbs to ~4 lbs. Crisp, minimal take up and a positive click as well as a positive reset are now clearly felt. I took the M&P to the range, and it did not dissapoint. My shot groups at 7 yards were some of the best I have attained, not to mention how quickly I was able to fire multiple shots all within 1-2 inches. If you have an orgianl M&P45 and don't like the original trigger, look no further. This kit will definitely have a positive impact on your shooting. Not to mention the satisfaction it brings with attaining such good shot groups.
S&W M&P forward set trigger
Awesome. Installed this set in a police trade-in M&P .40 and.....wow.....what a difference....
Get one
The best upgrade you can make to your M&P handgun. Cleans up the overtravel and the grittiness of the stock trigger. This is the way the M&P was meant to be!
Apex Trigger
The best thing I could have done to my M&P 40. Easy to install. I will soon get one for my Shield. Great Product!!
Well Worth the Cost
This kit is amazing. I installed this in my Pro Series 40L and it made a world of difference. Very little take up and over travel with a crisp break. Installation was very easy with following the online video. It took about 30 minutes of working at a leisurely pace. A small adjustment of the trigger bar loop was needed on my gun but that too was a simple process. If you shoot an M&P you will not regret installing this kit. I will be installing one of these in my M&P 9 as well.
Best upgrade I've made to my M&P
I had my stock sear worked a bit by a gunsmith friend, and it lightened and cleaned the grit out a bit, so I didn't have high hopes for major improvement from the Apex kit, but I was very wrong. The trigger is fantastic now. Anyone I have try it can't believe it was a drop in kit. I'm mechanically inclined, but don't have much experience working on guns. Install took about an hour as the lock block was extremely tight in my M&P. I completed it fine though. I do wish they'd include instructions, as a low resolution youtube video is all I could find. One note... When taking the trigger group out, pay close attention to the take down lever retainer wire. This wasn't covered in the video and mine was swallowed by the black hole under my bench. Based on what I read online, it is a very common part to lose, and most everyone is out of stock of it. I called Smith & Wesson, explained the issue, and the shipped me one out free of charge. Didn't even ask for the serial number or anything. A+ customer service. The gun functioned fine without it as the recoil rod captures the lever, but with the slide off, the takedown lever would fall out.
Essential for all M&P's!
I have installed the FSS & Trigger kit on two of my M&P 45's. In my opinion this kit should come standard with all M&P's leaving the factory. As advertised, the kit significantly reduces pre and over travel. After installation, my newer M&P 45's have a trigger pull of 4-5 lbs, compared to trigger pulls of 9+lbs from the factory. The installation process is straightforward (but you must watch Randy's video on apextactical.com). On my first M&P 45, the installation went perfectly. However, my full size M&P 45 required modification to the front of the trigger well (where the trigger rests) in order for the center pivoting safety to work properly. Apex customer service is excellent. They guided me through the modifications necessary to ensure proper functioning of the FSS & Trigger. The Apex technician that I spoke to stated that S&W has recently changed their molding to cause a rounding of the corners of the trigger well. This can cause the trigger to rest farther back, negating the smooth function of the Safety or its ability to fully engage. I think this issue is isolated to the M&P 45. Obviously, this is an issue with S&W, and I do not blame Apex for this complication at all. Apex is a great company that makes high quality aftermarket products. I highly recommend this kit!
Very Impressed
I was asked by a customer to install this kit into his new M&P9. Having used APEX products before, I knew that this kit should be nice, but was wondering how the "Glock type" trigger would feel after the installation. I may be one of the few that like the original trigger in the M&P series. After it was installed, the trigger was very nice at 4.75# with no additional work on the other parts that normally are polished to smooth the action of the trigger group. It should take about 1/2 to 1 hour to install, if one takes time and is methodical. I was very impressed with the way the trigger felt and worked without other attention.
This Kit is Awesome
I had this installed in my M&P 45ACP. It made the Gun shoot like a 1911
Second best thing to a 1911 trigger.
Purchased from Apex Tactical before it was sold by Brownell's. Sequentually tried out all of the Apex M&P kits offered by Brownell's as they were made available. Each was an improvement on the last. The Apex Tactical Forward Set Sear Trigger group proved to the be the best by far. With the correct backstrap, the feel of my M&P Pro 9 feels very similar to my 1911s, in my ability to make fast accurate double taps. The travel, break, and reset are all a 150% improvement over the factory set up. It make the M&P Pro what it's marketed to be, competition ready.
