RECEIVER MOUNT SHOTSHELL HOLDER

RECEIVER MOUNT SHOTSHELL HOLDER Reviews & Ratings

Rugged and lightweight, aluminum shell holders put extra 12 gauge shotshells on the left side of the receiver for fast tactical reloads. Shells are held in place with a unique, internal Santoprene™ elastomer rib that securely retains even heavy slug shells during vigorous movement or heavy recoil. Available in sidemount (SM) or Picatinny rail (PR) configurations. All necessary installation hardware, tools, and instructions included. Remington Sidemount is available in 4-, 6-, and 8-round capacities and uses steel-on-steel, threaded adapters that replace the trigger group pins to anchor the shell holder securely to the receiver. Remington 870 shotguns require a shortened, tactical-style forend to accommodate 6- and 8-round sidemount units. Remington 1100/11-87 require minor forend alterations to fit the 8-round model. Remington Picatinny is a 6-round model that features an integral Picatinny rail for mounting sights, optics, or other accessories. Wraps around the top and mounts to both sides of the receiver using the same type of attaching system as the sidemount model. Fits Remington 1100/11-87 without modification; requires use of shorter than factory length forearm when used with Remington 870. Mossberg Sidemount is a 6-round unit that attaches in the same manner as the Remington Sidemount. Fits Mossberg 500/590. Mossberg 500 Sureshell Carrier attaches to top mount. Benelli Picatinny models include an integral Picatinny rail and mount to the top of factory drilled/tapped receivers. Available in 6-round for Benelli M1/M2 (requires drilling/tapping receiver for M1), 6- and 8-round for M4/M1014, and 4-round for Supernova shotguns. Mossberg 930 sidemount attaches to the left side of the receiver. Mossberg Picatinny is a 6-round model that features a top Picatinny rail and attaches the same as the Sidemount model. Versamax is a 6-round model that features a top Picatinny rail and attaches to the receiver.

Nicely Made American Product
I agree with the other reviews... this is a nicely made American product that works exactly as advertised. I plan on storing shells in the carrier and I'm not worried about the elastomer loosening over time. The installation is pretty straight forward, with one exception. If you have an 870 Express Tactical, it may be necessary to remove the "D" shaped retention clip that holds the plastic tube that the front trigger pin passes through attached to the trigger group. Without removing the D-clip you won't be able to pass the male Chicago screw into the receiver (from right to left when looking down on the receiver). Drop the trigger group out, pull off the D-clip and then proceed with the installation.

Better than the competition; worth the $
Bought this after seeing them at the 870 Armorer class on LASD's guns. Heavy duty, serial number visible, fits and functions well. At first there was some loose shells and some tight. One call the Mesa got replacement tubing on the way to fix it fast. They're stand up people right down the road from me in So. Cal. I will be buying a 2nd six pack for my 1187P.

Sound tactical addition to your shotgun
As a armorer for the US Navy when I look at buying any accessory for a weapon I tell myself it must serve at least 3 purposes. 1: with the shell holder it allows for fast combat reloading 2: with the picatanny rail it allows for easy addition of otpics such as a reflex sight for faster target aqquisition 3: the picatanny rail also serves as a sort of rear sight for improving the accuracy of your shot this is an all round good addition it installs quickly and is easy to remove for field stripping definitely recommended

Not designed for long-term storage
The shotshell carrier is not designed for long-term storage of shells on the weapon. Storing shells in the carrier over long periods can deform the elastomer, resulting in degradation of shell retention efficacy.(from page 3 of the operation guide) I bought it to keep shells with the gun. It is not made for that purpose. Shells are loose in the holder after a long period of time.

Easy to mount, holds rounds well
I was amazed at how easy it was to mount this to my gun. It holds the rounds securely, even when firing rapid fire buck or slugs.
