Money well Spent
This video is a excellent training tool if you are new to the AR-15 rifle field, I had a little knowledge from being in the military but this video really helps to get a person up to speed on the different possibilities when deciding on how to build your own AR rifle.
Good Introduction to AR's
This is my first dive into the world of AR's as I recently picked up the Civil Defense Rifle (less expensive version of the WWSD 2020 rifle). I went ahead & got the DVD on AR's at the same time for a reference, I am glad I did. Sure, it could have gone deeper into the rifle such as lubrication, how to drill & tap the barrel for an A-1 or A-2 type front sight, etc., etc. This DVD is advertised as beginning level & that is what it is. It does it well. I am glad I got it, now I need to get something a little more advanced to continue my education on AR's. I would recommend this as a good starting point for any other newbies out there wanting to get into AR rifles. A very good start.
Excellent AR15 DVD- Complete
This is a very good DVD about the AR15. It includes history, types of AR15s, components, subassemblies, etc. I have watched a lot of YouTube videos on AR15s and this video captures everything. It is all together, in one good video. Tips on building, assembling components, etc. The cut away gun showing all the internal workings of an AR15 is especially helpful. The presenter does an excellent job explaining everything and does not go too fast or too slow. Excellent. This DVD is worth having in your gunsmith DVD collection.
Great VIdeo
Great addition to the many articles/books on how to build an AR-15. The video presentation provides all the details and allows one to rerun sections for a precise build.
A professional AR-15 DVD
After watching this video, I understand my National Match AR-15 even better. In addition to teaching you how to build your own AR-15, this video contains some excellent function testing tips I had not seen elsewhere. One of the safety function testing I saw on this video I thought was particularly useful, as it is a function test of something I was doing regularly while attending CMP/USAMU Small Arms Firing School-Rifle this past summer at Camp Perry. After watching this DVD, I now know the CMP Rock River Arms NM AR-15 on my relay was a well maintained, properly armored NM AR-15. This DVD just just made me think. This DVD also contains a good AR-15 specific cleaning and maintenance section. Buy this DVD even if you do not intend to build your own AR-15 and watch it. When you show up at your local range with your AR, you will already know stuff that experienced AR-15 shooters might have taken years to learn.
I will use this on an AR-15 Build again
This DVD lays out exactly what is needed and illuminates the planning process in an AR-15. I couldn't have asked for a better product.
Review of
I received this DVD as a Christmas gift (2011). This is outstanding, thorough instruction. I now know a lot more about these rifles than I ever learned in the US Army. The DVD covers every aspect of building one of these rifles except for chambering a barrel; with most barrel flavors available already chambered, this is not a concern for me (I also don't have a lathe so I couldn't do it anyway); The DVD does go into checking headspace with GO/NO-GO guages though. What the DVD does do is prepare anyone, even a novice, to completely assemble an AR15 rifle with readily available parts. It also makes for an invaluable reference for anyone who wants to customize, maintain their rifle better or just know it inside and out completely. I have seen another DVD from AGI and you'll have to see my review of that one for a comparison. As another reviewer pointed-out, this video does leave out lubrication points during the assembly, but the instructor also says more times than I can count that Brownells techs will help with any questions. I was also very pleased that this DVD included printable .pdf files so that there can be a hard copy reference if there is no DVD player in your workshop. I did notice that at the end of some of the sections, the instructor got cut-off as he was finishing his sentence. I don't think that anything of importance was omitted, but the video editing could have had a little more precision. Yes, they do plug the Brownells website/catalog, but they did produce this video, so why not? At least they indicated the correct tools to use for each step which is more than I can say for other videos out there. Overall, very professionally produced, presented and filmed. I was not disappointed and you won't be either ! !

Great for all...
Equally great for the experienced to reference and the newcomer to learn from. Very well done. I recommend this DVD all the time. The extra content is really great too.
Brownell's "How to Build an AR15"
I've got several DVD's on building/re-building AR's; THIS is hands-down THE BEST: easy to scroll to the section you need; clear, concise explanations; easy to follow visuals. It's just a top-notch product for the do-it-yourselfer
