I used to fight like heck to get a Glock magazine apart. Not anymore. With this nifty tool from Brownell's, it is a snap. I love it.

It was easy to use, I used a vise before so it was a step up for me.

Not a bad tool for it's purpose. Was a LEO armorer and there's a trick I learned to use this tool. First you need 3 hands. So I put the magazine in a padded vise that held it from the front and back. Take a punch and push the base plate down into the magazine. Then use the tool to squeeze the sides and with the punch still inserted pull the floor plate off. If you squeeze first you can't get the base plate down into the magazine body. Now you can see why the vise is your 3 hand and the magazine is placed that way so it can't slide while you put force on the floor plate.
Yes, Right Tool for the Job
Hi, I had problems with Glock magazine take down. This was do to old age, arthritis, etc. This tool worked as advertised. Just line up the "nubs" on the magazine body and gently squeeze,works like a charm. Also works on the new Glock 43 magazines.
Worth the $$$
Makes a "3 handed" job quick and easy. Base plates just slide right off. No marking to mag body if you watch what you are doing. Don't know why I did not get one sooner.. Yes, the rubber grips need a shot of glue to stay in place. Was a 2 sec fix. For the low price, it's worth it to have one, even if you only use it a few times a year to clean your mags..
Works but needs improvement
I was able to disassemble my Glock magazines using this tool and a padded vice. After the first magazine, I covered the tips with some of the small yellow fuel hose you find on most small engines like chain saws and weed eaters. This keeps the tool from leaving any marks on the magazine. It is available at any small engine repair shop or on Amazon.

I put off getting this tool for a long time because of the price but broke down and got one. They work and are easy to use. The Glock owner's guide says you can pinch the magazines but I couldn't without this tool. At last I can clean these 25 year old mags.

If you know how to use it, it works great. If you squeeze the mag in just the right place with a punch in the base plat it works. I would recomend puting a a bit of supper glue on the grips to get them to stay on.
Works as intended
I don't understand how anyone would have a problem using this tool. Firmly punch the insert down, it will roll over the spring into the front of the mag. Squeeze the sides of the mag under the locking tabs with the tool, slide the base plate off. Couldn't be easier. For the price I expected a higher quality tool, so it loses a star.

When I attended the Glock Armorer's Course, I was taught to take a pin punch and quickly and sharply push the magazine insert down into the mag and it will stay down. (right hand dexterity) Hold the mag (inverted)in your left hand with your thumb on the rear of the mag base pad. With the mag tool in r-hand tool tips on the mag tabs, compress only enough and push with left thumb on pad. Continue to slowly increase pressure with tool and continue to push with thumb until base pad slides forward. I disassemble them that way, and I have NO COMPLAINT, NO DAMAGE. The tool works well. As far as the handles plastic sleeves,as someone else said,glue them.
