Bad QC
This is a review solely on this one purchase as I have 3 other Brownell Glock slides that work great. But this was disappointing as it didn’t meet the standard Glock oem specs and couldn’t get the back plate on or firing pin in the channel(yes I installed the liner correctly)
Will not go into battery
Maybe I just got unlucky. Slide will not always go into battery with a little help from your thumb. I sent it back to Brownells and should have replacement next week. I have a Glock 17 gen 3. If that does not work I will send my OEM slide in to have milled for RMR cut
Spend the extra money for something bett
This slide when received at first looked good. Once I started looking closer the milled finish of the slide was poor. Will not run on my P80 or G17 properly.
QC Failure x2
First slide had a massive gash down the exterior left side. This gash was a good three inches. Interestingly this was then coated for finish. NO ONE caught this?? Second try, the new slide had no apparent tool marks but a good 50% of the interior of the slide was straight bare metal, no finish whatsoever. 2 total failures. Ohh and did I mention this FDE coating is glossy and goldish? It's not even a twice removed cousin of FDE. I've given Brownells 1 more shot cause I like them in general.
Always keep it K.I.S.S.
Dont use with Faxon barrel! I wanted to be a little extra with this Glock build. After assembly and a couple of functions check, the slide was getting hung up on something. After running into the problem a couple of times and deep inspection, I noticed the exposed part of the top portion of where the chamber was catching in the front window of the slide. I thought I was racking it too hard or too fast, I just tried to rack it far enough to where the slide catch actually catches and it was a hit and a miss for the barrel still getting caught in the slide window. Will add pictures ASAP.
Stay away, waste of time and money
Where do I begin? I ordered the brownells G19 windowed slide with rmr cutout and when I received my order and opened the package, the package (and tube that was slide was in) was full of water. I cleaned and lubed the slide. There was some minor rust in the cut out for the channel liner. I also noticed an ugly machining swirl on the right side of the slide next to the extractor. The cut out for the iron sights is out of spec and I destroyed a brand new big dot suppressor sight while trying to install it. The RMR cover also has a completely different finish then the slide. Between the slide being delivered in a bag of water and all of the other issues, I can't recommend this slide. Since I'm a LEO I can get a new glock for $399. Long story short, the p80 build with a brownells slide is a waste of time and money. I would have been better served with a better gun by just purchasing the g19 for less money.
Slide isn't cut completely
Problems: 1. The slide wasn't cut all the way through for the extractor (see picture). 2. The whole for the firing pin channel line is too small. It looks like the firing pin channel might have been drilled to be used without the lining. As such it's going back for replacement. Hopefully the replacement is going to be better.
