What Reviewers Are Saying
Product Quality
55%
Reviewers express concern about the overall quality of the slide, particularly noting issues with internal tolerances that lead to jamming and failures to feed in various Glock frames. Many users emphasize a lack of consistency in the manufacturing process, leading to mixed performance experiences.
Fitment and Installation
45%
Many users report that the slide fits well on their Glock frames and is easy to install. Comments highlight successful use of factory internals and indicate the slide's aesthetic appeal, but some also mention issues with fit, such as loose screws and alignment problems.
Quality Control Issues
60%
A recurring theme is dissatisfaction with quality control, particularly indicated by rust in mounting holes and inconsistencies in screw sizing. Many reviewers suggest that the product may have been shipped without proper inspection, impacting user confidence.
Customer Service
40%
Users appreciate the responsiveness and help provided by customer service when issues arose, especially regarding replacements and guidance on defects. However, this is seen as a necessary response to the mentioned quality issues rather than a benefit of the product itself.
Performance Issues
45%
Several reviews indicate significant performance issues, including failure to extract and feed, light primer strikes, and failure to reset the trigger. These problems undermine trust in the product's reliability, particularly for those relying on it for serious use.
Finish and Aesthetic Concerns
50%
While many users commend the nitride finish, there are notable concerns about discoloration and rust around the mounting holes, detracting from the product's overall presentation. Cleanliness upon arrival also varies, impacting first impressions.
Seems Nice at First
This slide seemed great at first, however the internal tolerances leave a ton to be desired. The channel for the firing pin channel is undersized, causing significant binding with any firing pin/cups that are used, including ones taken directly from working pistols. This causes the firing pin to remain extended leading to jams and failures to feed. It’s unfortunate but this leads the product to be largely unusable for regular individuals, or smiths that do not have access to milling tools capable of fixing this shortcoming. It also explains why this is now almost half the price I originally paid.
Stay away from this product
I haven't gotten to shoot it yet but had issues with the mounting threads. One stripped without much torgue using a torque wrench. Disappointed to get an item like this through Brownells. Most other items have been of good quality.
Completely disappointed
I tried this Brownells RMSc cut Glock 43 slide on three different G43x/48 frames, and all had the same dismal results. The gun would suffer FTE/FTF within 2 or 3 rounds. It didn’t matter what barrel, recoil spring, or frame, it would not run consistently, much less reliably. The three frames ran 100% with the stock Glock slide, but not with the Brownells slide. This was very disappointing, because the Brownells G19 slide on my training gun has been nothing but flawless.
G43 RMS Slide - problems
So, I'm hoping I can leave an updated review in the future. For now, here goes. Slide shipped with 4-40 screws, yet packaging indicated 6-40 screws were required. As expected, 4-40s did not fit. Called Brownells and 6-40 screws were shipped (although only one length), compared to the original packaging which contained 2 sets (long and short). New 6-40 screws threaded properly, but fit was poor with ample side to side wobble even after threaded. Brownell gun tech said this was acceptable. Optic arrived and the 6-40 screws were too short. Optic supplied screws did not match slide. Called Brownells again and was ultimately told that there was a defect in the G43 RMS slides and I was asked to return it. Meanwhile, I have an optic and slide internals that I've purchased. Waiting and exploring new options.
Improper Function
I'm disappointed to give this such a bad review. I've worked with a half dozen of the G19 and G17 slides from Brownells, and they are simple, but they do the job fine. I bought one of these 43 Optic Cut slides for a new build project using all factory OEM guts, and I could reliably reproduce a dead trigger that wouldn't reset when the trigger was pinned under recoil. I could reproduce this on multiple factory G43's and G43x's. Holding down the trigger while the slide cycled induces a small amount of deflection in the trigger bar and connector. The reset ramp on the Brownell's slide was machined too close to the slide rails, and wouldn't engage the connector when this deflection was taking place. Not engaging the connector on time, doesn't allow the cruxiform to pop up and be caught by the tooth on the striker, which is what resets the trigger. I got out the micrometers and calipers, and found reset ramp on the Brownells slide was more than .015" out of spec from the 3 factory slides I had to inspect. I called Tech here at Brownells and they were helpful and professional, and got a new slide sent out. And the new slide inspected as having critical features more than .007 different than the first one, but still way out of spec and it still behaved the same way. I had to get a refund and find a better slide. I hope Brownells figures out whats going on with the print and the QC practices wherever these were being made, but I won't be buying any Brownells brand parts again. Bummer.
Finish issues
First order had major oxidation/rust around the mounting holes. Sent back and ordered again. The second order had finish issues again. These seem to be packaged a while ago and not checked before it ships out. Pictures show the state of the first and second order.
