Excellent 1911 Tool. High Value.
This great tool works perfectly, providing two efficient and essential services. 1) Precision stoning of the 1911's sear face and relief. 2) 20x power Quality Assurance fit-up inspection of 1911 sear/hammer sets. A third, less critical service (my amateur opinion) is the ability to measure sear face profile length (depth?). All of my prior sear work and sear/hammer fit-up inspection were significantly more challenging and complex efforts. To my knowledge, this tool is designed for use exclusively with 1911 model sears and hammers.
Must Have Tool!
This tool is great! There isn't anything out there that allows you to look at your sear engagement this detailed. This allows you to make sure you have a perfect neutral engagement and takes all of the guessing out of it!
High Quality Sear Tool with magnifier
There are plenty of 1911 Sear jigs available; this one has a 20x magnification lens with a 0-0.18 inch scale with and 0.002 inch increments. This allows direct measurement of hammer hooks and direct observation of Sear Hammer interface even if your eyes are aging like mine. The jig itself is similar to others, the magnification and scale set this tool apart from others. This tool has made Hammer Sear adjustments much easier to accomplish accurately.

Indispensable tool for 1911 sear work
I work with my hands on humans for a living, and possess surgical loupes for use in the operating room. The ability to see is a must before you can make meaningful changes, whether that is to the human body or to your sear/hammer interface. The 20x built-in loupe makes it really easy to see if the sear-hammer interface is mating properly, especially if you apply magic marker to the sear and work the hammer to see where it's rubbing unevenly. There are very small division marks in the lens which allow you to accurately measure the proper hammer hook height (0.018 or 0.020 - your choice) instead of relying just on a piece of shim. You can also fine-tune the primary and secondary angles on your sear using this Yavapai Sear Tool with the proper stone. It allows you to make that perfect sear-hammer interface in the shortest amount of time possible. I think this device trumps the Power Customs Series 1 Stoning Fixture. I can use this Yavapai tool to get perfect angles, as well as being able to SEE that the angles have been tuned perfectly. Work in a well-lit environment so you can see clearly using this device. Put it against a white background to reflect light through the small hole in the end for even more revealing images. Rotate the lens so you allow maximum light through via the cut-out at the bottom end of the lens tube. You will not regret getting this device for your sear work. TIME SAVER
This is the best product I have ever used for a 1911 trigger job. It is to get it perfect fast. I have other things to do with my time other than continually assembling and disassembling again and again. If your eyes aren't what they used to be then this is the ticket. Make you a mount to set this on to compensate for your neck angle when you lean over greatly reduces fatigue. Great product designed by a great school!
