Powder River Precision roll pin set
My order shipped promptly and was delivered undamaged by Brownells as per usual. The roll pins from Powder River Precision are rolled into themselves creating multiple layers of material where as the factory pin was really a split pin with only one layer of material (see comparison picture). Installation was easy and took about 15 minutes with cleaning the parts and striker channel in the slide included. When I examined the factory pin from my XD, it looked to be in perfect shape save some bluing having been rubbed off. I have fired many thousands of rounds through my particular XD pistol with no issues. My factory pin was not scored bent or otherwise compromised. I personally saw no evidence of weak or frail factory roll pins. That said, the Powder River Precision pins do indeed look to be more robust compared to the factory pins. If you feel that your XD could use the upgrade and you would feel better about the pistol's longevity with the replacement pin/s installed, I recommend getting the Powder River Precision product.
