WOOL BORE MOPS

WOOL BORE MOPS Reviews & Ratings

BROWNELLS WOOL BORE MOPS

A classic favorite for gun cleaning; virgin wool mop holds lots of bore cleaner or oil, so both ends of the barrel get thoroughly coated. The natural “spring” of wool helps the mop conform easily to rifling grooves; the looped and twisted brass shank and coupling won’t scratch the bore.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Better than ever!
The Wool mop will last a lot longer than a cotton mop. I soak the mop with Kroil and pass it down the barrel to sit for a few minutes. Then I switch to a nylon brush with a patch wrapped around the brush, put some Isso or J B Bore Bright on patch and scrub depending on amount of fouling.Sometimes I will put 10-20 strokes before I switch to just a patch on a jag soaked with Montana Extreme and let sit for 5 minutes and clean it out.Depending on amount of fouling it may take several times to get it clean.Check with a borescope.

Just the Ticket for Detaled Cleanings
I have a number of .22 bolt action rifles I use for students and some for kids I coach as competitors. When it comes time for detailed cleanings these swabs make the mark. They carry solvent efficiently and cleanly to the bore and saturate the surfaces. That leads to efficient and effective cleaning with much less effort. I count these as a must have for volume shooters.

Performance Surprise
I used these mops to polish my rifle bore using JB Bore Paste and JB Bore Bright and then to Dyna-Coat after polishing. While I was skeptical of the pricing, when I got these in hand I noticed the heavy brass core and the high nap of the mop itself. After use, these mops retained their nap and didn't mat down like cotton mops do. Though I was doing a 7mm bore, these were not too tight. Though not proofed by experience, it seems that these mops will outlast cotton mops such that there is value in the purchase of mops of this quality. These mops should not be used with brass solvents.
