vortex venom on Ruger PCC
Installed this Vortex Venom on my Ruger PCC with the included AR mount. The compact size is perfect on top of the pic rail, the red dot is sharp, and bright. I really enjoyed my time plinking at the range with this combo, very satisfied with my purchase!
Clear and bright
Mounted to a S&W 617 to support aging eyes. Controls are positive and brightness range is good. Zeroed with little effort. Expected no less from Vortex.
GREAT SIGHT
SMALL, LIGHTWEIGHT AND EASY TO INSTALL. ESPECIALLY LIKE THE TOP MOUNTED BATTERY COMPARTMENT. I MOUNTED THIS ON A KEL-TEC PMR30 WHICH HAS A NARROW LIGHTWEIGHT SLIDE. THE SIGHT AND RAIL ADDED LESS THAN 2 OUNCES TO THE OVERALL WEIGHT AND AFTER 50 ROUNDS TO BREAK IN THE PISTOL, EXTRACTION AND FEEDING WERE NORMAL. OVERALL THE RED DOT IS EASY TO SEE AND ELEVATION AND WINDAGE ADJUSTMENT WERE EASY AND PREDICTABLE.
my venom in 3 m.o.a
didn't now if 3 ( m o a ) would be in the range i'd be shooting. using my ruger hunter 3, 22LR . but first i had to order a picatinny rail base. venom red dot only comes with picatinny mounting plate.used my range finder to marked 25 yards. within my 10 shots last 3 shots i was in the 1 inch dot free handed. the venom m.o.a. has plenty of adjustment. vortex got this venom rite. and brownells/sinclair ships orders out fast also. this is my online shooting supply store with great venders they team with. thanks you guys and gals
Another solid product from Vortex
I use this on an off-set mount as an alternate sight and backup for a scoped rifle. This fits the bill perfectly when transitioning from a few hundred yards where a scope is preferable, to inside about one hundred yards when all you have to do is roll the rifle a bit. Accuracy is really good inside 50 yards on quick shots, and acceptable from 50 to 100 yards (it is a 3 MOA dot after all). Overall fit and function is good and the controls are accessible, but make sure you know how you will mount it before you buy as you could end up blocking the left-side buttons. This certainly does not have some of the "nice" features on the high-end sights of similar design, but for less than half the price I'm not complaining or missing them. I own a dual-illuminated RMR and overall would say this product is just as good as the RMR for most uses. If you need hands-free adjustment to different light conditions, a smaller dot, etc then this is probably not the item for you. However, if you're like me and want a solid red-dot option on a rifle, pistol or shotgun and want to save a little money buy this!
great sight
Really impressed with this sight. Auto light control works great and I know the battery lasts a long time but I really like that it shuts off with the cover on.
Better than the rest!
It may not be as rugged as the RMR, but it has over twice the brightness settings than a Fastfire III and it still has auto brightness feature that can flip through all modes. It's half the price of a battery contact failing RMR, 3 moa dot looks wonderful (outside), zeroing is very easy with click adjustments and this has been my favorite red dot for my CZ Scorpion and I have had everything from an Eotech XPS2, Trijicon MRO, Bushnell TRS-25 and even a Vortex Spitfire 1x.
Well thought out and a great value!
I own a DeltaPoint and RMR. I bought this for a GSG 922 (using a Novak cut base) because it was relatively inexpensive (compared to the DeltaPoint and RMR). I expected to be "settling" but I was really impressed! It is clear with a sharp dot. It was easy to zero and has stayed perfectly adjusted, albeit it is on a little 22 lr. The battery change process is well thought out and changing a battery does not require the removal of the sight. I like the manual intensity adjustment and how it works. There are some bells and whistles missing that I would like if I were to use it for self-defense (auto adjusting brightness option and the Deltapoint motion sensing on switch is great for a house gun). Frankly, for a range or even hunting sight, this is about perfect for a handgun.
Great Sight, Once You Get One Working...
I've had two of these for several years, and they work great. I tried to buy two more recently. One was DOA, and one the elevation didn't work. I talked to Vortex Tech Support and sent them back for repair. In the meantime, I figured it would be good to have a spare, so I bought another. No elevation adjust... I exchanged that one, same problem. I bought one from Brownells to try to get one from a different Lot, same problem, back it went. I sent a nastygram to Vortex Customer Service. They apologized and told me that you can often fix the elevation problem by running the windage all the way left, then all the way right and then centering it. The two I had sent them arrived. The one with the elevation problem had been fixed, and the DOA was replaced with a new one. That one had no elevation adjust. I applied their trick, and now they both work fine. Why they couldn't have told me about the trick when I first talked to Tech Support is beyond me...
