Great barrel
Awesome barrel. I wanted something other then 416r SS barrel, and this is 4150 even better than 4140. Fit and finish is perfect. I will be ordering another one for a different build. Can't be beat for the money.
Dropped right in Gen 4, no issues
After the early mixed reviews (only 2 posted at the time) I decided to risk it. My other Faxon barrel on a Colt pattern 9mm works great. Happy to say: this dropped right into my G19 Gen 4. The fit is tight without any indications of hang-ups. Can't wait to see what I can eke out of the tighter tolerances and an RMR while I wait for Uncle Sam to knock out paperwork. Hope this helps your decision making. If you're worried about accuracy, I'll just say this: After 20+ years of combat arms experience, I have yet to meet more than a handful of shooters that can consistently outshoot the gun when on a square range. Once the shooting starts, as long as it goes bang in the right direction, minute of man is more than sufficient. V/R,
Great G19 barrel for the price point!!!!
This barrel looks great and fit in both my stock Gen 3 slide and my aftermarket slide. I have put over 300 rounds through it with no issues at all.
Did Not Fit Swenson slide
Looks very high quality from a reputable company at a great price. Unfortunately, it did NOT lock into battery in my cheapo Swenson slide (part #907282 over at MidwayUSA). I would have either had to file off a bunch of metal from the front top of the barrel hood, or the locking edge of the slide that it contacts, or both. Basically gets stuck in the "tilted" position as it begins to unlock or finishes locking, enough that you can't even attach the slide to the frame (barrel lugs hit and jam). Probably just 'tolerance stacking', both Faxon and Swenson at max allowable limits of whatever the OEM specification was = jam fit...Brownells customer service was awesome, and exchanged it for a different barrel which DID fit my cheapo slide (Silencerco, part #100-017-347WB). I gave it 3 stars for quality since I couldn't use it without filing, but it probably works great with other brands of slides, I just wouldn't try it with a Swenson. 1/2 x 28TPI makes it easy to share your favorite can or compensator across multiple firearms, including 5.56mm if you have an appropriate multicaliber can (many 9mm barrels are 1/2x36 but most 5.56mm barrels are 1/2x28). Thread protector is included, O-ring is also included. Rifling is 1:10, same as OEM Glock, supposedly stabilizes a wider range of bullet weights well.
Poor quality control
After receiving my barrel I proceeded to clean it out. My first patch showed rusting from inside the barrel. I cleaned some more and then I inspected the barrel. The lands and grooves appeared to have tool marks. Two of the grooves had what I would describe as rough cutting such as a dull router bit would do when it would chewed up the wood. I was astounded. Needless to say I returned the barrel.
Will not fit
I just received my barrel today. I went and put it in my Glock 19 Gen5 and it did not fit. I tried it in my Glock 19 Gen4 and it did not fit. Definitely poor quality control. I will be returning this barrel.
