Conversion
I purchased this more from curiousity than anything. I had purchased a new S&W M&P 2.0 Compact for a very low price, but as much as I liked the ergos, I hated shooting the gun because of it's worst-in-the-world trigger. So, just for laughs, I installed this trigger and Wow! It feels like a decent 1911 trigger now. Short takeup, distinct wall, crisp snap through it, and the tiniest reset to that wafer thin wall. Only drawback is, this trigger install requires more finesse than any other trigger job I've done. Even with that it wasn't difficult, just bring an extra dose of care to your workshop table.
Great trigger and great CS by brownells
The first trigger I received clearly appeared used and had scratches/installation marks on it. Contacted Brownells customer service later in the evening and they overnight shipped me a replacement and return label the next day. The first one came packaged in a box and the replacement was in an envelope which caused the actual packaging to be crushed however I do not believe it actually damaged the replacement trigger at least not visibly. Brownells CS def gets an A+ for how quick they sent out the replacement. Just wish they packaged the replacement in a box and not an envelope. As for the actual trigger, for the most part installation was easy with just a punch and hammer. The actual trigger pin does require a vice to drive the pin in. It is almost impossible to use a hammer and you will most likely damage it. Like the other reviews say, if you're on the edge, just go ahead and buy it. It is pricey and the stock trigger on the new M&P M2.0's isnt all that bad, however the Apex Flatty takes a decent trigger on a good handgun and makes it an excellent pistol for the price (a 1911 style trigger in a polymer handgun).
Much needed improvement
The stock trigger was horrible, heavy and a lot of creep. I would have traded the gun in if this didn't correct the problems. I decided to lighten the pull since my version has a safety. This kit is worth every penny. If anyone has similar issues I recommend installing this kit.
Great improvement!
This trigger kit is a great improvement to the factory trigger which had an excessive amount of pretravel. Now the pretravel is just right with a crisp 1911 style break and reset. The kit is easy to install with the right tools. Highly recommend!
Light Strikes
Produces an excellent trigger pull, but unfortunately left the pistol unreliable, with several light strikes per magazine. The parts simply could not be configured to get the sear to lay fully flat like the stock gun does when the trigger is pressed. I believe the actuator isn't long enough.
I reinstalled, swapped parts back and forth, mixed and matched, but ultimately returned the firearm to stock.
This was bitterly disappointing as I had just fitted and installed an Apex barrel. Ultimately I spent $400 in parts on top of the price of the gun to get an unreliable pistol that shoots 2" groups at 50 feet.
I recommend either sticking with the stock trigger on the M&P, or buying a different gun with a better trigger.
Disappointed
Ive heard great things about this trigger, but was disappointed with the product I received. During the install I noticed the pin on the trigger shoe that secures the trigger bar was bent and wouldnt set in place. I was unable to get the trigger on my gun, so I had to return it. I expected better from Apex after all the great reviews. I ordered another one which is on the way, but I dont have high expectations.
