XS Sights for Ruger LCR
This is the best way to upgrade an already wonderful little gun. When you can swing it up and see the front sight coming into place without really following it with your eyes, you can concentrate on what is really important... What the threat is doing. A must have for any defensive firearm.
Nothing like quick service
I ordered this last Friday after lunch and it arrived today.(Monday) I installed it this evening. No problems. I read where the punch is getting bent. I always use a lot of light taps to remove this type of pin. After removing the old pin, the supplied punch looks like it came out of the package. I do recommend that you start the pin in the sight just enough to hold it but not enough to keep it from seating on the top of the LCR. This makes it easier to finish the install. I also recommend that you use a hammer with an alluminum head as this will not damage the pin or your LCR. When I installed the pin, I used the fat end of the supplied punch to seat it, again using several taps that are not hard enough to bend the punch. I hope that this helps others to avoid problems that others had.
Then there was Light!!!!!!!
Easy to install, took me about 20 minutes. (Zero gunsmithing abilities at all) Comes with a punch but it eventually broke (can't complain too much about that because most items you buy don't come with tools!) Looks great, sight picture is much better (have not fired yet) Glows nicely in pitch black room. I tried to use roll pin from LCR I took out but it ended up mushrooming so I used the supplied one and it fit and works fine. Highly recommend this to any LCR owners!
Excellent Replacement Sight for LCR
I purchased a LCR for my wife as a CCW, and I was not really satisfied with the stock sight. It was decent enough, but I think for CCW low light performance is a must. So after some reading I decided on this one. The package comes with: 1) The Sight, 2) a new roll pin, 3) a punch, and 4) a small tube of blue loctite. Installation took a total of 20 minutes, and I am far from a "handy man". I won't go into the details of the installation, because the supplied instructions are very detailed (including pictures). I would give 2 pieces of advice for those of you that aren't gunsmiths and don't have all the fancy tools. 1) Get a roll of masking tape to hold the gun in place while you punch out / replace the roll pin. The cylinder sits perfectly inside the roll, it holds steady, and won't hurt the guns finish at all. 2) Get a real, GOOD punch. The one supplied works well enough for removing the stock roll pin, but was a terrible pain to replace the new pin. I knocked the old pin out with 2 hits, but the pin was bent in the process (yes after 2 hits). I was able to get the new pin started with the bent pin, but could not finish driving it. I got a larger sized punch to cover the whole head of the pin; 1 smack and the sight was ready to roll. Lastly, this sight is not lined up like a standard revolver sight. Originally, you put the tip of the post under what you wanted to hit. With this, you put the center of the "dot" on top of your target. This is excellent for CCW and man sized targets. However, if you are using this a range queen, hitting steel plates at a distance takes some getting used to. *Note* - I will assume all guns are different, but this is my experience with the sight. XS says to lay the white of the dot down inside the rear sight notches. This was not the true (in my case). I actually have to put the white of the dot on the top of the rear sight notches. Just something to consider if you buy it and can't seem to hit anything (I know I couldn't! haha). All in all, I am very pleased with this sight, and yes I would purchase it again.
