Just the Thing
Ordered this item on August 24 and it arrived yesterday. Initial impression was, maybe I should have ordered something else. This thought came because of its weight, 150 lbs. However, that problem was quickly solved. The drawer comes all the way out of the case - of course it has to if you are going to get to the holes for permanent mounting because they are on the bottom. Once the drawer was removed the weight was no longer an issue and my wife and I got it into place easily, in two pieces. It does go under a bed with plenty of room to spare. My suggestion, if you have hardwood or laminated floors is to put the safe on a carpet remnant or rug. Set up was quick. Follow the instructions carefully to avoid any problems but programming the code was very easy. I have opened and closed it several times since installing it and everything works just as advertised. This safe is not fireproof, something you should not expect for the price. It is a supplement to a regular, fire resistant safe. The important thing to me is ready access to my firearms in the event I need to do so. I have a grandson who spends a lot of time at our house and state law says you must lock up guns in that case. This solves that problem easily. The safe will hold any combination or reasonably sized long guns and quite a few pistols, along with ammo. I would advise that if you are going to be out of town for some time to transfer your guns to a heavy duty fireproof safe.
