Replacement slide release lever has more than twice the contact surface of the XD 9/.40/.45 tiny factory part to make hitting the release or manually locking back the slide easy, painless, and fast. Helps you reload faster—simply hit the Magloc button with the thumb of the shooting hand to close the slide on a fresh mag, rather than manually racking with the off hand. The larger button surface spreads the pressure you apply over a larger area of the thumb, so it feels like you’re using less pressure to operate it. Machined, hardened steel construction, with three large horizontal grooves to give secure, non-slip purchase; low profile won’t interfere with any holster designed for the stock XD. FITS XD 9/.40/.45 pistols as well as the XDm in 9/.40 caliber. Will NOT fit the XD pistols with thumb safety or the XDm in .45 caliber.

SPECS: Steel, blued, matte finish. Contact Pad - 11/8" (2.8cm) long x 5/16" (7.9mm) high. Fits Springfield XD standard and compact models in 9mm or .40 S&W only. Does not fit pistols with thumb safety or any of the XDM series.

Excellent extension

Amazing addition to my 1st Gen Springfield XD 9mm Tactical. Gives more purchase for the thumb without sticking too far out from the pistol.

Just bought number three and four

I have numbers one and two on a XD40 Service and a XD45 SC. Three will go on a XDM9 Competition and Four on XD40 SC. All XD's are Mod 2's. I had been looking for more and finally found them here at Brownell's. It hurts a little to spend close to $50 on a part for $320 guns, but if you attend training as I do and those guys demand malfunction training, these are them very much worth it.

Excellent upgrade for your XD

Addresses one shortcoming on the XD of the slide catch that is somewhat small. This gives much more purchase for your thumb and it looks good on the gun as well. There were some light tooling marks on mine that could have used a bit more polishing before they blued it, but oh well (and I could address this later myself anyway). Function over looks for me, and this functions absolutely great! Highly recommend!

Has a much better feel! Allows more comfort for long days at the range! so far works great with the xd-45

Springfield Smart Release

I purchased this part for my Springfield XD Tactical. It took less than 5 minutes to install and reassamble my pistol. Releasing the slide is so easy now. I plan to purchase these and install them when I purchase my next Springfield XD pistol. If you own a Springfield XD pistol you owe it to yourself to purchase one of these parts. You will not be disapointed.

Worth it...

What a difference, I love my XD but the slide release needed some help, this did the trick. Installation was easy - good fit. Feels like it should have been there the whole time...

Great Improvement!!!

I recently install the Smartloc Extended Slide Release on my Springfield Armory XD40 Tactical. It was the enhanced slide release I've been looking for- an agressive stepped pyramid thumbpad, larger surface, and finish matches the rest of the pistol. Solid construction! I did not give this product four stars because of machine marks on two of the flat contact areas. I filed and sanded the areas and it is flawless now. Easy install. I will buy another for my XD40 service pistol.

Rusted Parts

We ordered 5 of these slide releases. Every single one of them came to us rusted. We had to refinish all of them.
